Manchester United fans believe Sergio Romero has been treated unfairly after David de Gea was recalled after the start XI for tonight’s Europa League semi-final against Sevilla.
Romero has been United’s cup keeper this season, starting with both the round of 16 wins over LASK and the victory in the quarter-final against FC Copenhagen.
Despite the patchy form of De Gea in recent months, the Spaniard has returned to the starting line-up for the match against Sevilla.
De Gea’s mistakes were costly during the FA Cup semi-final loss to Chelsea, with many fans feeling that Romero should be the first choice until Dean Henderson returns to the club.
Ole Gunnar Solskjær publicly defended his stopper for first choice and has placed an enormous amount of confidence in the Spanish international by forgetting Romero.
United fans feel the Argentine has been treated harshly.
Solskjaer was asked about the situation of the goal prior to the win against Copenhagen and admitted that it will be difficult to keep everyone at the club.
He said: “It’s difficult, but it’s a nice problem to have. Competition for places is important. We’re looking for competition for places.
‘We have Dean, Sergio, David in line. Lee (Grant), the fantastic pro he is, backs her up.
“It will be difficult to keep three of them at the club so we will see what the decision will be there.”
