A Wisconsin man graciously shared his millions in lottery with a friend, keeping a promise made nearly 30 years ago.
Tom Cook called his friend Joe Feeney, a man he had made a promise with in 1992: if any of them won the Powerball jackpot, they would split the cash between them.
That promise was kept after Cook recently earned $ 22 million.
“He called me and I said, ‘Are you shaking my cork?’ Feeney said, recalling the moment she discovered that her friend had won.
Cook and Feeney are receiving a cash payment of $ 16.7 million, and each will receive about $ 5.7 million after tax, says the Wisconsin Lottery.

Cook quickly quit his job after learning he had won, and he had no doubt he would split the money with his friend, according to a PA Media press release.
“That happened many years ago, and it continued,” said Cook. “A handshake is a handshake, man.”
