Zinchenko caught
Oleksandr Zinchenko gifted the ball before Che Adams’ long-range winner for Southampton against Manchester City on Sunday.
The midfielder was caught in possession, but Adams still had plenty to do before pulling Ederson out of City’s penalty road for the game’s only goal.
After the game, the left-back of the City turned to social media to apologize to his followers, acknowledging that it was a costly mistake that he cannot afford to repeat.
“Apologize to all fans of the team and the city. This kind of mistake is not acceptable, ”said Zinchenko on Instagram. The versatile player had entered the team in place of Benjamin Mendy, having been an unused substitute against Liverpool.

Pep Guardiola feels that he and his team need to take stock after another loss in the Premier League.
A 1-0 loss at Southampton was ninth place for Premier League City in this period after losing just four on the way to the title last season.
Guardiola said his team was performing well, but admitted that he needed to find out why the games were not won.
He said: “We concede less than other teams in the Premier League, but we lost many games, many games.”
“And that is why it is difficult even for me to find a reason, but we have to insist and talk about the game, the way they play and concede as little as possible and try to score goals.”

Man in the middle
Brazilian veteran Fernandinho has been a regular in Guardiola’s central defense this season, deeper than his more natural role at midfield base.
His ability to read the game and play in the style the coach wants has meant that the transition was a success most of the time, although it was also an unnecessary move with other central defenders who were sometimes unavailable.
Now, however, our City writer Stuart Brennan feels that the emergence of Eric Garcia means Fernandinho may once again be a midfield choice for Guardiola, challenging Rodri and Ilkay Gundogan for a spot, which should be a good omen for the next Champions League game against Real Madrid.
