Main stories: potential demand for Pixel 3, Xiaomi Android TV

In this week’s best stories: Google will soon face a class action lawsuit from Pixel 3 owners, Xiaomi’s Mi TV Stick retail lists leak series of Android TV dongles, Google’s Android TV dongle has leaked once more, and more.

While many await news on the next two Google phones, the Pixel 4a and Pixel 5, all eyes this week were on the 2018 Made by Google phone, the Pixel 3, as the law firm Chimicles Schwartz Kriner and Donaldson-Smith LLP have confirmed that it is investigating problems with the phone. If enough people show up demonstrating legitimate issues with the Pixel 3, Google may face yet another class action lawsuit.

A post on the / r / GooglePixel subreddit has now given more importance to this potential Pixel 3 demand (via @Telnetport). If you have severe hardware and software problems, you can fill out the form on the CSK & D website to learn more about the problems you are experiencing.

Xiaomi’s Android TV dongle, the Mi TV Stick, appeared once again this week, this time with two different models. Along with the previously leaked 4K model, the retailer’s new leaks show a different second model, with cost-saving changes like just supporting 1080p and using Micro-USB instead of USB-C.

However, these leaked listings show prices at $ 49 and $ 133, respectively, and I personally call fake news about at least the latter. $ 49 and $ 79 seem to be good price points for Xiaomi if the rumors are correct, but if not, lowering them would only help them better compete with Roku and Amazon.

In other Android TV news, this week Google released an Android 11 Developer Preview for Android TV. Hiding in that preview, we uncovered a video depicting the previously leaked Made by Google Android TV dongle, codenamed Sabrina, which essentially confirms many of the earlier rumors.

So what else can we deduce from this? It is possible, though far from confirmed, that Google’s Android TV dongle “Sabrina” may be planned to launch with Android 11. This could make sense to the Made by Google team, as their Pixel phones generally launch on the latest possible version of Android.

OnePlus recently held a contest, asking artists to create specially designed wallpapers for the OnePlus 8 series. This week, they revealed the results, including the winning artist’s wallpapers that will soon be available on all OnePlus 8 phones. Okay Take a look at the full gallery of artwork from the winner and finalists if you need a new wallpaper.

Finally, in other OnePlus news, one of the company’s social media channels has inadvertently confirmed that its next budget phone, previously known as OnePlus Z, will actually be called “Nord.”

OnePlus’ new budget phone “Nord” is expected to offer a pretty solid overall package with the Snapdragon 765G, a 90Hz display, and more. It has been indicated that there will also be several cameras. As for a launch? The signs point to July, but it will only be in selected regions.
