Danish actor Mickelsen, who recently appeared in “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”, “Hannibal,” and “Casino Royale”, will play the Dark Wizard at the center of action in the “Harry Potter” prequel.
The film is set to release on July 15, 2022, currently at Warner Bros. near London. Studios is a producer at Levdden.
It also features Eddie Redmayne, Catherine Wetterston, Dan Fogler and Ezra Miller among many others.
Depp first appeared as Grindelwald at the end of the movie “Fantastic Beasts”, but played a much larger part in the second installment, charting the rise of the wizard.
A spokesman for Warner Bros., which owns Warnermedia, such as CNN, confirmed the news.
Depp, referring to the decision in a statement announcing his departure, said he plans to continue his legal battle.
The first two “Fantastic Beast” films were released in 2016 and 2018, respectively, and produced by J.K. According to Rowling, there will be a total of five.
