Madeleine McCann suspects Christian Brookner could never be questioned

Madeleine McCann suspects Christian Brookner may not be questioned by police as investigators say he is “a witness to justice.”

  • Brookener lived near the Priya da Luz resort, where Maddie disappeared in 2007.

The main suspect in Madeleine McCann’s disappearance can never be questioned by police because investigators say they do not have enough evidence and are just one witness from justice.

The convicted pedophile, Christian Brookner (43), was named by German police as a murder suspect, who disappeared after Meddie was on holiday with his family in Portugal in 2007.

Searching and talking to people close to Brookner, the prosecutor who led the investigation said police did not have enough evidence to secure an arrest warrant.

Hans Christian Walters told the podcast that they have taken her: ‘At the moment our evidence is not strong enough that we are sure she will be sentenced by the court.

‘Maybe we need a witness who can tell us things we don’t know.’

Mr Walters announced last month that they did not need to find Meddie’s body to take legal action against Brookner for his murder.

When asked if he had any forensic evidence inside the flat where Brookenner had Madeleine sleeping, Mr Walters replied: ‘I have an answer, but we have decided not to disclose this information.

‘I can’t say‘ yes ’or‘ no ’because that leads to a thousand other questions and I can’t go into details.

‘But when I say we have more evidence, you have to trust me.

‘Here in Germany our public ministry only releases when things are solid.’

He has previously been convicted of child abuse and rape.

A friend of McCann’s family said Mr Walter’s comments were heartbreaking.

He told The Mirror: “It looks like she’s trying to lower expectations after all the guns have come out.”

Brookner, who had been living in Priya da Luz’s resort since Maddie’s disappearance, had previously said he was innocent of four different crimes.
