Madden 21 ratings: George Kittle, Jimmy Garoppolo between winners and losers

Summer without sports has arrived, but the (virtual) games are about to return.

With the release of Madden NFL 21 next month, player ratings for the latest installment of the popular game are slowly declining. We know the top 10 quarterbacks, running backs and all four members of the “Madden 99 Club,” of which 49ers tight end George Kittle was not a part.

As with everything in life, there have to be winners and losers (yes, even in video game rankings). So let’s take a quick look at who came out on top and who was looking or wanting more when it comes to Madden 21 ratings.

Winner: The Madden 99 Club

It is an elite group every year. The few selected players receive a rating of 99 in Madden, which means they are the best of the best, according to the exalted video game gods who make the rankings. This year’s class included no surprises, with Patrick Mahomes, Aaron Donald, Christian McCaffrey and Stephon Gilmore making up the club.

There could be a discussion for Kittle, DeAndre Hopkins, or Michael Thomas, who were given a rating of 98, but it is difficult to argue with Club 2021 99.

The celebration dinner is at Mahomes.

Loser: Jimmy Garoppolo

The 49ers quarterback has spent the entire season being teased and teased by every Tom, Dick, and Harry with a keyboard, podcast, or television show. There was the Tom Brady stage. Aaron Rodgers’ questions. All the talk about the overthrow of the Super Bowl and not enough about a defense that fell in the last quarter.

And now Garoppolo is rated 83 and not among the top 10 quarterbacks at Madden 21? Oh. Burning To be fair, I ranked Garoppolo the 12th best quarterback in the NFL, which is probably where he will fall in the Madden ranking.

The quarterbacks above him include, Mahomes, Brady, Drew Brees, Lamar Jackson, Russell Wilson, Aaron Rodgers, Matt Ryan, Deshaun Watson, Dak Prescott, and Carson Wentz. It is difficult to argue that Garoppolo is better than any of them (I rated it higher than Prescott).

After another year in the Shanahan system, Garoppolo has a chance to have a great year, win a Super Bowl, and increase his Madden rating. You know, what’s really important.

Winner: George Kittle

No, he didn’t do the “Madden 99 Club”, but 98 isn’t that bad, is it?

Kittle has become a major NFL star during his three NFL seasons, and has already overshadowed Travis Kelce as the best tight end in football. Kittle has a long contract extension, one that many believe should see him paid the same as Hopkins and Thomas, with whom he has the same ranking.

One more season of defenseless rigid armed defenders on duty and Kittle will get that “99 Club” package. I can not wait

Loser: Ranking of runners

The riders’ rankings were released on Tuesday, and we have some issues.

OK, so McCaffrey at 99 is easy. I know Derrick Henry is a mutant alien that is impossible to tackle, but is he really the second best running back in the NFL? Is it better than Ezekiel Elliott, Saquon Barkley or Dalvin Cook? Your committee, that is, me, says no.

Then there is a great lack of respect towards Alvin Kamara and Josh Jacobs, who are the top seven riders in my opinion.

Here are my totally outrageous ratings:
McCaffrey (99)
Elliott (94)
Barkley (93)
Cook (93)
Henry (92)
Kamara (91)
Jacobs (91)
Chubb (91)

Please don’t do it with me.

Winner: Henry Ruggs

The Draft 2020 NFL was LOADED into wide receiver. He was seen as one of the best catcher classes in history.

When all the smoke died down, Raiders rookie Henry Ruggs received the highest grade in the class at 76. Ruggs beat Dallas Cowboys rookie CeeDee Lamb and Denver Broncos wide receiver Jerry Jeudy. As the best rookie receiver, thanks to the 98-speed rating he received. .

Honestly, that might not be fast enough.

Loser: People who care about Madden’s rankings

I get it, video games are fun. But if you’re sitting here furious because a guy you never met hit a player you probably didn’t meet in a lower ranking than you think they deserved either, please calm down.

First, let’s acknowledge that you, the person who cares deeply about Madden’s ratings, are not looking at this through an unbiased lens. Secondly, if it really bothers you, I suggest you do what I would do at 8 years old. Get on the list, edit your favorite players to make them super dumb, and then have fun destroying all of them.

I still haven’t told my best friend that I played Dennis Dixon … sorry, I mean QB # 10 ranking in NCAA Football 2007. Mom is the word.
