The recruitment rankings of this website and others tend to generate a lot of anger from prospects and their families. But the annual release of NFL player ratings in the Madden video game series may prove even more controversial. This week’s release of Madden 21 ratings proved it once again.
Star quarterbacks Lamar Jackson and DeShaun Watson they weren’t amateurs of its 94 and 86 general ratings, respectively.
Denver Broncos running back Melvin Gordon was not happy with dropping from 84 in Madden 20 to an overall rating of 79 in Madden 21. Several players, including non-teammates, defended disrespect, a rating of 89 awarded to the honor of Aaron Rodgers.
But for many players, just having an in-game avatar they grew up in is a dream come true. That is certainly true for various Gophers currently in the NFL. Of the 10 Gophers that received Madden 21 ratings, none were taken in the first round of the NFL Draft.
