Week 3 Start ‘Em: Tight End
The beginning of the week
Noah Fent vs. Buchananers
The banana season is starting near Fent. Athletic tight end ranks eighth in the running position. He has 10 catches on 11 targets, for two scores, and is now considered the top option in the Broncos Pass Attack with Court Rutland Sutton (knee). The matchup against the Buccaneers this week is also good, as their defense has allowed an average of more than 13 points per game from last year until the enemy tight end.
Start ‘Em
Jonnu Smith in the Vikings
Smith has proven himself a playmaker for the Titans, and that was evident on his 62-yard catch early in the game early last week. He landed his second straight nice state line, and a third is possible against the Vikings. Last week, his defense allowed two catches, 111 yards and 16.1 foul points to backup tight end, Mo Alley-Cox. Smith can also be a free agent in your league, so grab him and get him started.
TJ Hawkinson v. Lions
Hawke’s Kansas got off to a great start in the 2020 season, scoring 10-plus points in their first two games. He will also take part in the TE1 talks this week, as he faces a Cardinals defense that was the worst in the league against a tight end in 2019. In fact, Hawkinson was beaten for 25.1 points in his first NFL contest. Even in the circumstances where Kenny Golade returns to action, I still start the Iowa production in a thin spot.
Hayden Hurst v. Bear
Hurst was a member of the Start ‘M list last week, and was a state sheet monster with 72 yards, a touchdown and 18.2 fantasy points. I’ll keep him active this week as well, as he will face a bear defense that has allowed 6.1 catches and 13.6 fantasy points per game since last season until the enemy tight end. Our friends from DK Sportsbook have a total of over 48 over-under in this competition, so it is expected to be a high scoring affair in Atlanta.

Week 3 Seat ‘M: Tight Ends
Sit for a week
Rob Gronkowski at the Broncos
Gronkowski has been on the milk cartoon this season, seeing four goals on 34 passes while catching just two passes for 11 yards. The big man has more name value than real value these days, and O.J. Howard has become a better fantasy ending in this pair. So, while the Broncos allowed the 10th highest points last season, Gronkowski is closer to becoming a waiver-wire fodder than a fantasy starter.

Austin Hooper vs Football .L team
The matchup against Washington this week is good, as their defense has allowed the fourth most imaginative point from the start of last season to reach a tight end. Here’s the problem: Hopper ranks only 24th in terms of running routes per game, and the 25 players in that position have more goals. The Browns will be a two-back team that will also lean on the run, so getting consistent production outside of Hopper can be a stretch. At this point, it’s an imaginary alternative to No. 2 that could soon be on the waiver wire.
Chris Harden at Colts
I was pretty high on Hurndon last week, but he didn’t do anything even after he fell down like the width of a jet. That’s not his fault, as Hernandez has been used as a blocker on 40% passing snaps. Indianapolis have allowed just 7.7 catches per game since the start of last season and a tight end of .3 44. y yards and Harden could struggle to see enough targets to produce this weekend.
Dalton Schultz on Seahawks
Schultz was fairly ahead of the Falcons, with nine passes for 88 yards with touchdowns and 21.8 fantasy points. It’s definitely worth adding an apology for the rest of the season, but I’ll have a hard time getting it started against Seattle. His defense has become even more formidable against the tight end with the addition of Jamal Adams, as he has averaged 5.4 fantasy points per game so far this season.
