Lynch / Shanahan Reign 5: It was time for the 49ers to find a franchise QB

We’ve spent much of the last two months discussing backup quarterbacks, from Mitch Trubisky to Fla Flco. On Friday morning, the San Francisco 49ers shocked everyone when they traded with the Miami Dolphins, the third pick in the draft.

It is a quarterback governed league. The Ninners had top defense in the NFL, and that meant nothing last season because they didn’t have a quarterback. So why now

Well, mortgaging your future seems daunting. San Francisco doesn’t seem to fall into the “desperate” category, but they are well aware of the type of quarterback they take to win this league. I look forward to last season’s Bill’s game. The defense, out of a coverage bust, was able to do everything possible against Josh Allen.

It doesn’t matter.

Creating for himself and throwing lasers all over the field, Ellen has one of the most impressive quarterback performances you’ll see. Robert Saleh has been the NFL’s best defensive coach in the last two years. He has no answer for Allen’s physical equipment. From hand strength to mobility, Allen fitted the Ninners on Monday night.

After that game, Kyle Shanah talked about how he developed as an evaluator:

“So, I evaluate quarterbacks in terms of trying to find people who have the opportunity to be one of the elite and have a lot of ways to do it. You can see it in different ways now, so you never think that will change. I don’t think you have a definite thing to look for. You’re just trying to find someone who is better than 98 percent of the people on this planet or in this country and when you find it, you get it and adjust to it. “

From Jimmy Garoppolo to Matt Ryan to Brian Hoyer, Kyle never got a quarterback who was physically or extremely gifted by the “elite class.”

Look around

Quarterbacks are the most difficult to prepare for a script that plays off and on. When you say that, there’s an instant rebuttal, “Pocket quarterbacks still win in the NFL.”

No one is disputing it. Both of these things can be true. Deshaun Watson, for me, is the NFL’s best pocket QB. His decision-making and accuracy do not match. Watson will also make his play-killer look better than him.

49 And for Shanahan, they finally realized that an elite genius associated with elite play-caller would take this crime to a level he had never seen. RGIII and Ryan were special under Shanahan. Too often, we forget the other side of the argument. Kyle now has a chance to find a quarterback who can be elevated Him.

Tray lenses and Justin Fields fit that mold.

Both are fantastic runners, although Lance is one of the best running quarterbacks to come out of the draft in the long run. Both have cannons for weapons, and both make a decent football game. Just before we get into the ability to fix their “superstar” broken play or turn anything around.

If the defense reads the screen, you now have a quarterback who can do more than run and throw the ball on the back foot. Is your first reading covered? Is there a blocked defender? No worries, now you have an athlete. Loading defense loads because they can’t stop the run? Well, now you have a thrower who will pay out of the number of defenses.

I don’t think fans are aware of how handicapped the offense has been under Shahnahan in the last two seasons. Now that San Francisco has done this trade, it’s time to accept that the team isn’t sold on its current starter and is aware of its flaws.

Now, choosing the right player is up to the 49ers. The pieces are there. The roster is so strong you can hope. Yet, none of that matters if the quarterback doesn’t perform.

We’re moving into the fifth year of the Lynch / Shanahan regime, and we still don’t know if the team has a quarterback. They know this was probably their last chance to land on the franchise quarterback. Everyone else at NFC West has one. I believe Matthew Stafford played no role in this move for the landing 49s. Pencil-in victory will no longer be when you play Rams.

You can’t beat Los Angeles in the second half now by scoring or barely moving the ball. The game is evolving, and there is no such thing as a quarterback position.

It was an aggressive move by 49 people. Now, they have no choice but to hit on this pick. No pressure, boys.
