Lusher student wins Doodle for Google competition for Louisiana; here’s what her doodle means to her | Education


Google announced 54 state and territory winners for the national competition Doodle for Google. Applicants were challenged to create a Google graph to represent the meaning of kindness.

Lusher Charter School senior Morrah Burton-Edwards was selected as the winner of the 10-12 class for Louisiana and will continue to compete in the national league.

Burton-Edwards’ entry was entitled “Making Love Visible.” She said that kindness can be shown by demonstrating love, whether it is to family members or strangers.

“A simple act of kindness like a hug can brighten someone’s day,” Burton-Edwards wrote in her entry. “But the most important thing is that I show kindness by loving those, even if they are unkind to me. That’s the most important time to be kind and the hardest, but those people need kindness the most.”

Voting for the top 5 finalists will take place between August 17 and August 21 here: https://doodles.google.com/d4g/

The top 5 winners will compete for a $ 30,000 scholarship and the chance to appear on Google.com.

Edwards is a CAVA (Certificate of Artistry in Visual Arts) student at Lusher and was previously honored as the winner of the Muses Mardi Gras Design Cup in 2020.
