Lucy Hale sent fans an emotional message after CW announced that their show, “Katy Keene,” was not renewed for season 2.
“Hey guys, this is the take … I had to do this a couple of times just because it was a crybaby mess, and they don’t want to see that,” she started on Instagram Live on Thursday night. “I’ve been having trouble all day with what I wanted to say about this, or if I shouldn’t say anything … nothing seemed right to me.”
The 31-year-old actress continued, “I thought, I don’t want to just post a photo or caption because nothing would do justice to how I feel about ‘Katy Keene’ or how I feel about the people involved with it.”
Hale, who played the show’s main character, said the role was “one of the best moments of my life,” adding that he has had shows that were not selected for a second season before, but each time is “heartbreaking.”
“This is bad, this is bad … oh my god, sorry,” she said, as she cried. “It will take some time to get over it.”
She went on to say that she was grateful for the role and thanked several people, including fans.
“I can’t stress how amazing you are, all the time, no matter what happens,” he said. “You’ve just been there for me and you’ve supported everything I’ve done and like, what the hell? I’m so lucky At times like this, I realize how lucky I am. “
“Oh tt, sorry,” he apologized again as he wiped away his tears, before telling fans that they can continue to support the show by watching it on HBO Max. “I think sometimes things just don’t work and maybe it wasn’t the right time to do it, I don’t know, I’m a little confused.”
Finishing his video on a high note, he said, “The show won’t come back and that sucks, but I’ll keep my head up and who knows what I’ll do next.”
