Episode 4 fan Lucifer left us with so many questions on behalf of Maze. In addition, Michael caused quite a bit of trouble for Lucifer and Chloe, as he appeared in episode 1, and we wonder how all the consequences will shake.
Those worried about it, the story moves forward with Amenadiel in a flattering new position in episode 5, and many of these characters have to work through some negative feelings and questions about faith. Here is an overview of what happened in Lucifer, Episode 5: “Detective Amenadiel.”

Amendiel leaves hell, but why?
Lucifer is glad Chloe finally decides to talk to him again, and he leads her blindfolded to a beach. There’s a gift for her, and she’s not impressed. He agrees and puts petrol on it.
He explains that it is the place where he burned his wings and wants to recreate the scene as a symbolic gesture. Lucifer persuades Chloe a lighter to burn her ‘gift from God’ too. She is not interested. All Chloe wants is time, but Lucifer doesn’t have much to spare.
He springs to Linda’s house, and although he rumbles about his problems with Chloe, they try to tell him something. Guess what? Amenadiel freed him from looking up over hell.
They speak privately and Amenadiel discovers that he heard her father’s voice. God said that hell no longer required a warmer, so left Amenadiel.
As they catch up with Chloe and Michael, we learn that Amenadiel is the one who gave Chloe the ‘gift’.

Linda tries to comfort Maze about her mother, Amenadiel captivates the audience
Maze bursts into Linda’s office and is shocked about her mother “b * tch” leaving her. Linda tries to calm her down and make her empathetic to Lily, but she refuses to hear it. Then Linda shares that understanding why Lilith is scared or felt unworthy.
She explains tears that when she was young she had a baby girl. “And you left her?” Maze storms out before she ends the story.
Amenadiel visits Chloe at the area to check on her. She does not want to talk about it and says she wants to avoid anything that is God-related. Her next call is a dead body at a church. How ironic.
A nun named Victoria was murdered in the courtyard and while interrogating the others, Chloe insults her about God. Ella is hesitant about the nuns, but pulls her colleague aside to control her rude behavior. Chloe ends up calling Lucifer for help and while she leaves a message, Amenadiel comes down on the scene.
Back at the office, Lucifer wants to help her from behind the scenes, so he taps Dan. Dan advises him to help by looking for paperwork for leads.
Chloe and Amenadiel chat at the convent and she wants to know if he has the same mojo as Lucifer. He denies it, but the nuns gather around him and they are enchanted.
Linda invites Maze back to her office telling her the emotional story of her teenage pregnancy. Linda shares that she was not ready to raise her baby or give her up after seeing her.
She cuts out of the hospital when the nurses are gone and tells Maze that she thinks about her all the time. “She looks good,” Maze says, attracting Linda.
Amenadiel goes into detective mode
Amenadiel asks the nuns and they are caught by him. They are not so forthcoming with Chloe. The couple learned that the nuns hid the truth about Mother Superior. She killed someone years ago, and Victoria just learned it. The sister presents herself for arrest.
Lucifer and Dan chat about work, and Luci begs for a chance to question the nuns. Amenadiel, however, surprises his brother at the area and joins Chloe in the question room.
The nun, Angelica, talks to Chloe about faith and control. She tells her that she believes Chloe will solve the case and release her from the crime.
Lucifer and Dan came across phone records and found out that Victoria stopped calling pop star Destiny Page. The singer wanted to buy the monastery.
Maze and Linda find the child that Linda gave, and she is now an adult realtor named Adriana. They go to an open house event and Linda is flooded by her equality. Maze wants to get to the truth, but Linda pretends if they are only interested in the house and raising a family.
Maze pulls her outside and tries to tell her that the woman is her mother. Linda disagrees and thinks it should be up to Adriana. Maze calls her a coward, making Linda remind her that she’s not Lilith. Overwhelmed, she tells Maze to see her mother.
Chloe learns the truth about her ‘gift’ status, Maze is angry
Lucifer is jealous that Amenadiel helps Chloe. They come into argument and Chloe hears that Amenadiel is the one who gave her gift from God. She tells her the story about her parents who is blessed, but she feels like a thing, not a person.
She and Amenadiel headed off to Destiny Page for a rehearsal. After the finesse of the bodyguard, they learn that Victoria was her assistant and they sent her to church to collect Intel.
Victoria won love the nun’s life and wanted to stay. The singer has an alibi that includes an anonymous Alcoholics meeting and goat yoga. It is confirmed.
Maze goes back to Lilith’s apartment but finds people cleaning it. Lily Rose died. She has a moment alone in the place and her emotions vary from sad to angry. She finds an old poster of Lily Rose from the 1940s (she looks identical) and throws it across the room.
Dan and Lucifer think Victoria had a fiancé, and one of the nuns volunteered to talk to Amenadiel. Everyone thinks it’s about the case, but they kiss him. She feels ashamed, but he realizes that his aura reflects his father’s love for her. Afterwards she mentions Victoria found a secret room in the church.
Lucifer and Chloe need a sidebar over them more time. Lucifer encourages her to take the time she needs, but from within he worries him.
Amenadiel helps solve more than one case with Chloe
Amenadiel and Chloe investigate the church and look for a lever inside a fake bookshelf. They look around the room and notice that someone has stayed there. Then they hear a voice. It’s Hank, Destiny’s bodyguard.
He was engaged to Victoria and they meet about the church and Destiny’s intentions. They fought over Victoria’s desire to join the convent. He said he killed her by accident.
Amenadiel throws up his bullets and after it’s over, he shares something with Chloe. Using the nuns as an example, he explained that his effect on them is equal to Lucifer’s effect on mortality. It does not work on her because she is the only person who can see him for who he really is. It is not manipulation.
Maze and Linda share a tear-smelling moment. Maze tells Linda that her mother died and that she could not tell her anything. She urges Linda to open the way for her daughter to find her one day.
The episode concludes with Chloe visiting Lucifer at the penthouse. She tells him about Amenadiel’s theory about her.
Lucifer has an epiphany and they both think he chooses to be vulnerable around Chloe. It’s the Deckerstar moment that all fans were waiting for, and they said it with a tender kiss.
