LSU wide receiver Coy Moore released a statement detailing an incident that happened Saturday night in which he said police pulled a gun on him and violated it several times.
An LSU spokesman confirmed that the university and Baton Rouge police were investigating Moore’s claims.
Moore, who posted a statement on social media on Sunday, said police officers who stopped him assumed he had a gun and drugs.
“I was violated several times until I tried to open my pants in search of a weapon that I repeatedly told them I didn’t have,” Moore said in a statement.
When he tried to record a conversation with police, Moore said his phone had been “snatched from him.”
“As some celebrate the election of a new president, understand that the real problem has not changed.” “If I hadn’t told those incompetent officials that I am an LSU football player, I would have come here to tell the story, not to mention that! Yesterday was not a victory for America it was just a deviation.”
LSU coach Ed Orgaro said in a statement on Sunday night that he was aware of Moore’s “serious statements”.
While Oregron would not comment on the investigation, he wrote, “We must listen, learn and come together to confront social injustice and racism if we are to create a safer and more inclusive society for all.”
Like many events across the country, LSU players held a march in late August to speak out against racial injustice in the wake of the murder of George Floyd, who was in the custody of Minneapolis police.
