LSU coach Ed Orgron says more players are considering exiting the football season.

After losing star wide receiver Jamar Chase and defensive tackle Tyler Shelvin in the last wide 48 hours, LSU coach Ed Orgron said on Tuesday that there are still some other players who are looking to play this season.

“There’s one or two I’m thinking about, I know,” Orgeron said. “Hopefully they don’t. But, if they do, we’ll live with it. But we have the depth, and if they’re disliked, we’ll still make a great football team.”

All told, four players were disliked at LSU. Defensive linemen Neil Farrell and defensive back Carrie Vincent briefed the team on their decisions earlier this month.

The Tigers have returned just five of 22 starters from last season’s championship team.

Orgeron said both Shelvin and Chase, who are presented as potential NFL first-round draft picks, had “legitimate reasons” for their departure and that the decision was difficult for both.

“The guys are choosing the option for a variety of reasons,” Oregon said. “That’s the time we’re living in.”

Orgero admitted that he did not want to go to Selvin, but he respected the decision. He said he told the 6,346-pound lineman to stay in shape and “go to the NFL career hack”.

During a video conference with reporters, Orejro also addressed reports that the offensive line was hit particularly hard by the COVID-19 test last week. However, he declined to say exactly how many players missed practice.

There are a lot of guys who become positive, maybe more, but there are some people who live around them and have to be as different as we used to be, ”Reggren said. “But it’s good that it’s happened now, not in the middle of the season.

“It could come with another unit,” Orgero added. “We have to deal with it.”

LSU will open the season on September 26 against Mississippi State at home.
