The LSU football team will not participate in the bowling game this season.
On Wednesday, the LSU released the following statement. The NCAA has allowed the ball to invite the school regardless of their record, but Tiger has chosen to bypass the opportunity.
Here’s what LSU Athletics and Head Coach do Ed Ojeron Said in the release.
LSU Athletics Statement:
“The LSU has informed the NCAA and the SEC that it is banning postseason one year later on its football program for the 2020-21 bowl season, in addition to the announced self-bans. The LSU leadership has taken this decision after carefully considering and reviewing the NCAA rules violations found in the university’s cooperative investigation with the NCAA and IARP. This decision reflects LSU’s commitment to comply with NCAA regulations and maintain institutional control. We regret the impact this decision has had on our current student-athletes, but we do so in the best interests of the football program and the university. LSU will continue to cooperate with the NCAA and IARP throughout the implementation process. ”
Head coach Ed Ojeron Statement:
“I respect the University’s decision to actively address past NCAA issues. I share the disappointment of our student-athletes, who will not be able to participate in the game of Bowl this season. I am especially proud of the dedication of our players to the program at this unprecedented time in our country. L.S.U.
