Louisiana police shot and killed a man accused of carrying a knife in a store Friday night in Lafayette.
Lafayette police department officials were called to a convenience store Friday morning at 8 a.m. about a man with a knife, Louisiana police said.
Video of the incident shows 31-year-old Trayford Pellerin quickly away from police officers. People in the background of the video can be heard saying the man has a knife.
When officers tried to arrest him, he fled. State police said they initially tried to arrest Pellerin, but it was not effective.

Several cops close in on him and at least 10 shots can be heard in the video. State police said he was later pronounced dead at a hospital.
The Louisiana ACLU called it “a horrific and deadly incident of police violence against a Black person who was brutally murdered before our eyes.”
“None of our communities is safe as the police can kill people with punishments as when routine meetings escalate into deadly shootings,” Alanah Odoms Hebert, executive director of the ACLU of Louisiana, said in a statement.
“The Louisiana ACLU will continue to demand justice for this brutal assassination and push for reforms that will end the epidemic of police violence once and for all.”
