Louisiana police have shot dead a black man who allegedly had a knife after he disregarded orders to stop and walked away from her toward the entrance of a gas station.
Circumstantial video captured the shooting, which occurred on Friday at 8pm in Lafayette, at a Shell gas station at the intersection of Northeast Evangeline Thruway and Chalmette Drive.
The video shows witnesses shouting ‘he got a knife’ and ‘they will shoot him’, as the man quickly leaves the police and towards the entrance of the Shell station. ‘Get on the ground! ‘one witness is heard in vain.
Rickasha Montgomery, the witness who filmed the video, told the Lafayette Daily Advertiser that police caused the man no effect.

Police say the incident unfolded after police officers responded to a 911 call from a disturbance at a Circle K gas station on Northeast Evangeline Thruway.
Officials said they chased the man about half a mile on foot before the shooting took place at the Shell station, which was busy with multiple customers at the pumps.
Witnesses said police tried to use a taser to subdue the man, but that it apparently had no effect.
When the man came within feet of the door to the occupied convenience store, police opened fire on the police, shooting 11 times.
After the fire opened, police were seen moving towards people in the convenience store of the station, and appeared to be waving back from the windows of the store as the dangerous situation developed.

“When I heard the shooters, I could not hold my phone as I had first filmed,” Montgomery told the Advertiser.
‘I feel scared about it. I’m traumatized. You’re so used to hearing this, but I never thought I would experience it, ‘she added.
Louisiana State Police are taking over the investigation into the shooting.
Authorities did not identify the man, but confirmed his death on Saturday.
Police have also so far refused to confirm whether the man was armed, or how many officers opened fire.
