The coronavirus epidemic doesn’t seem to notice that protective face wear is here to stay.

But who says she should be a fashion killer?

Louis Vuitton is introducing a luxury face shield designed to keep fashionistas both styled and healthy in these indefinite times.

“The LV Shield makes for a stylish head piece, both stylish and protective,” the French Kochter brand said in a statement.

Darkness in sunlight transitions from clear to dark, protecting the wearer from the sun. It also has Louis Vuitton’s brand name and golden studs carved with an elastic, monogrammed headband. The visor can also be worn upwards like a classic peak cap, Louis Vito said.

Pricing has not yet been announced, but as a high-end fashion brand, it is unlikely to be affordable. Other Louis Vuitton headwear, including hats and sunglasses, sells for hundreds of dollars.

Face Shield sold online and will be on sale at Louis Vuitton stores from October 30.

In April, Louis Vuitton joined a global effort to create personal protective devices to support health care workers on the front lines of the epidemic. The company said it had re-launched several of its workshops in France to “create thousands of non-surgical masses in France” for health care workers.

The brand also said it was donating thousands of hospital gowns to six hospitals in Paris in urgent need of protective gear.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention does not currently recommend the use of facial ield as a substitute for masks, as it cannot specify what level of protection they provide.
