The house in question is believed to be where TikTok influencers live.
Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti has turned off the utilities in a house in the Hollywood Hills after he said it “became a nightclub.”
“Despite several warnings, this house has transformed a nightclub in the hills, and hosts large gatherings in flagrant violation of our public health orders,” Garcetti said in a statement Tuesday. “The City has now disconnected utilities at this House to stop those parties that are endangering our community.”
Although Garcetti did not identify the house, it is believed to be the home of TikTok influencers who threw large parties in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. The Los Angeles Times identified it as the home of influencers, including Bryce Hall, who recently took to hosting a huge 21st birthday party.
The Garcetti office notes that the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health announced in early August that the “institutions at highest risk are large gatherings in person, where it is difficult for individuals to stay at least 6 feet apart and where face masks are not worn. “Shortly thereafter, Garcetti announced that those holding large meetings could close utilities.
Police visited the home twice after sound accidents on Aug. 8 and Aug. 14, according to Garcetti’s statement.
Influencers of TikTok have moved into houses that have been given names to document their lives through the app and post content. The house in question is believed to be Sway House, of which Hall is a member.
Hall has not made any public statements about the shutoff of utilities and he could not be reached for comment by ABC News.
