Los Angeles County health officials reported 1,703 new cases of COVID-19 and 10 related deaths Sunday. However, they cautioned that the information is incomplete and that the actual numbers could be higher.
“The data reported today is incomplete due to delays in the state’s electronic laboratory reporting system,” the county’s Department of Public Health said in a press release. “The number of cases is expected to increase in the coming days once the data is available.”
Overall, officials have identified 173,995 cases of coronavirus in the county and reported 4,360 deaths since the outbreak began in the spring.
Across the county, according to authorities, there are 2,033 patients currently hospitalized with COVID-19; 31% of them are in intensive care. However, six hospitals did not provide their latest information, authorities said.
Of the 10 new deaths in Los Angeles County, three were over the age of 80, three were between the ages of 65 and 79, one was between the ages of 50 and 64, and one was between the ages of 30 and 49. Details of two of the victims were missing. available immediately.
According to authorities, about 92% of people who died from COVID-19 had underlying health conditions.
