Looters, vandals sweeping through Chicago’s Magnificent Mile

Hours after Chicago police shot a young man who turned her around and shot at her, hundreds of people went on a rampage and vandalism in various parts of Windy City early Monday, according to reports.

The mayhem began around 2:30 p.m. Sunday when cops responded to reports of a man with a gun near Englewood on the South Side and found a person who matched the description at Moran Park, the Chicago Tribune reported .

When the police left, the suspect turned around and shot at her. The officers returned fire, injuring the gunman, who was transported to the University of Chicago Hospital in an unknown state, according to the newspaper.

Police and witnesses later said an audience of about 30 people fell against police near 56th and Aberdeen streets.

Authorities said someone had spread false information to the group that police had shot and injured a child.

The looters and vandals rode through the city’s Magnificent Mile and other parts of downtown, where they were seen carrying bags full of stolen goods, the Tribune reported.

They tried several times to break the windows of the Omega whore shop on Delaware Place and Michigan Avenue.

‘The watch shop,’ said one cop. “They’ll get it eventually.”

Some people were seen running from a damaged PNC Bank in Huron and State streets, while shops nearby were also being cleaned by looters.

Police arrested several people and seized at least one gun, officials told the news release.

One fleeing woman with groceries fell on the sidewalk when an officer chased her and another woman revealed he was pepper spray.

‘We have an officer who was killed by someone in the crowd. We have an official who sustained a shoulder injury from the incident with the club, said Deputy Police Officer Delonda Tally, Fox 32 reported.

“One of our cars, the windows were smashed by a brick,” Tally added.
