Democrats have repeatedly hammered the Trump administration over the need to expand the U.S. Postal Service, especially as the majority of states move to vote by mail for the November presidential election. President Trump has moved forward, saying there are mistakes with the USPS. We’ve seen issues several times, as not all moods appear as postmarked.
In fact, the Lofts feared that USPS would stop picking up mail from mailboxes in Washington, Oregon, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, Idaho, Montana, South Dakota, North Dakota, Wyoming, Colorado, Kansas, Iowa, Alaska, Nebraska and small parts of Wisconsin and Missouri. According to a spokesman for the western region of USPS, this will be done only after the elections.
Collection boxes were removed last week in New York, Oregon, Montana and Indiana. Post offices in West Virginia, Florida and Missouri are also being reduced, CNN reported.
Of course, Democrats think this is some conspiracy theory to undermine the election. But, as our friends at PJ Media remarked, the removal of collection boxes is nothing new:
But the fact is the removal of boxes for mail collection has lasted for years as part of savings for efforts for the postal service and had nothing to do with the elections in 2020.
In September 2016, the USPS Inspector General noted that “Nationally, the number of collection boxes has decreased by more than 12,000 in the past 5 years.” This means that the USPS, during the Obama-Bid administration, removed thousands of boxes for mail collection. Was this a diabolical plan by Obama and Biden to suppress the vote in 2020? Did Trump make her of it?
According to the USPS Inspector General, collection boxes are eliminated when not in use because they are expensive to maintain. If a collection box has less than 25 items per day, these are the boxes that will be eliminated.
Even though Democratic Senator Jon Tester (MT) has called for an investigation into the elimination of the collection box, USPS spokeswoman Kimberly Frum said this has been happening for decades. USPS often monitors use of collection boxes.
“It’s a fluid process and figures can vary from day to day. Historically, mailboxes have been removed due to lack of use and installed in growth areas,” Frum told The Hill. “If a collection box consistently receives very small amounts of e-mail for months at a time, it costs the Postal Service money in fuel and working hours for postmen to drive to the mailbox and collect the mail. Removing the box is just good business respect. It’s important to note that anyone with a mail or business mailbox can use it as a car to send outgoing mail. “
Instead of acting like this is a new phenomenon, Democrats would be wise to do a little research. This is about use – or lack thereof – not about election results.
