Lollapalooza is airing a special four-day free broadcast on YouTube this year

Lollapalooza be It will happen this year, on YouTube. The set will air from July 30 to August 2, beginning at 6 p.m. ET. It’s free.

More than 150 performances will be available during the four-day broadcast, in a combination of previous Lollapalooza sets and new live originals, according to the festival’s website. The new “original live performances” will include artists such as HER, Kaskade, Louis the Child, The Neighborhood, Vic Mensa and Yungblud. The festival also promotes special appearances from Common, Michelle Obama, Chuck D and LL Cool J. The festival also plans to play past sets from Lorde, Paul McCartney, Outkast, Arcade Fire, Chance the Rapper, LCD Soundsystem, Metallica, Run las Jewels and Tyler the Creator.

Lollapalooza is not the first festival to offer a digital alternative. One of EDM’s biggest festivals, Tomorrowland, recently aired a virtual version of the massive festival for people to watch. Artists have flocked to YouTube, Twitch, Instagram, and even gaming platforms like Minecraft broadcast sets from their homes. Virtual festivals have become a staple in recent months.

YouTube and Lollapalooza have some history – the festival sets have been broadcast on YouTube for the past decade. However, this is the first fully digital presentation in the history of the festival.

As part of the festival, organizers are partnering with three charities: Arts for Illinois Relief Fund, Equal Justice Initiative, and When We All Vote. Organizers will match donations of up to $ 10,000 for each charity, according to the Lollapalooza website.
