First Chamber member Kelly Loeffler, R-Georgia, does not see the need to bring the Senate back from its recession after Chamber member Nancy Pelosi called on members of the House to return to the Capitol to address the ongoing crisis with the US Postal Service to pack.
Pelosi, D-Calif., Claimed Sunday that the post office has become a ‘polling station’ because of the coronavirus pandemic, while President Trump and Republicans have been warning for months that universal postal voting would cause widespread voter fraud.
“I think this is more political gamemanship that Pelosi is playing … use this moment to play a game that is completely based on something that is false,” Loeffler told Fox News in an interview.

“The president has said he has supported strengthening the Post Office. We have given the Post Office $ 10 billion, they need to demonstrate that they will operate prudently,” Loeffler said.
Postmaster General Louis Dejoy is scheduled to testify before the House oversight committee on August 24 in response to the growing concern of Democratic lawmakers about changes made to the organization, and claim that they postal deliveries are set to be delayed ahead of the November presidential election.
Several Democratic senators are calling for these changes to be reversed by the Postal Board of Governors, the supreme body that oversees the USPS, and so far as to push for the removal of Postmaster General DeJoy if the requirements are not met.
“We urge you to take immediate action to downgrade any changes made by Mr. DeJoy, reverse or postal operations and the delivery of the mail,” the lawmakers wrote in their letter. The letter went on to say: “(s) he should not cooperate in these efforts, you have the authority, under the Post Reorganization Act, to remove the Postmaster General.”

Loeffler reiterated calls to her constituents that it is safe to cast ballots at the polling station instead of relying entirely on vote-by-post, calling universal post-in-votes a ‘would-be-experiment’ at the wrong time .
“It is currently causing a great deal of loss of confidence to have this conversation that is really driven by the fact that our public health officials have said it is safe to vote in person,” she said. “We can definitely vote in person.”
Fox News is told that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi told her Democratic members during a conference call that she wanted this bill from Saturday to be aimed at the Postal Service and not drift into other areas, such as coronavirus relief.
