Jordan Henderson has revealed the level of disappointment in Liverpool’s locker room after the loss to Manchester City.
The Reds had a 4-0 loss Thursday because they couldn’t celebrate their title victory in style.
It was a strangely disjointed performance for Liverpool, particularly on defense, though they had some initial opportunities before City took control of the game.
Speaking to the Liverpool website, Reds captain Henderson said the entire team hopes for the best in themselves, but that it is important to treat the loss as a lesson.
“A lot of things, but, to be fair, I thought we were going through to the end,” Henderson said when asked about what went wrong.
“You must give City credit, a fantastic team and their possibilities are over.
“We are very disappointed and after the game the boys are very disappointed with the result as we should be.”
“On another night I would like to think that we can end our chances and change the game, but unfortunately it did not and we have to give the City credit.”
“We are not making any excuses.
“We are very disappointed and expect more from ourselves, but it can be a lesson for us in the future if we want to improve and continue to compete for trophies and be in the title race next season and other competitions as well.”
“We need to continue, keep improving and keep learning. This is a learning curve tonight, so we should react the right way in the next game. “
