President Trump announced on Wednesday that the US is demanding the restoration of all United Nations sanctions against Iran. The president has instructed Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to notify the UN Security Council of the decision.
“The United States intends to restore virtually all previously imposed United Nations sanctions on Iran,” the president said, calling it a ‘snapback’ and ‘not uncommon’. ‘
Mr. Trump, who was highly critical of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action during his campaign, pulled the US out of the Iran deal.
After two back-to-back days of campaign events in states that will be crucial to his re-election, Mr. Trump will hold a news conference at the White House on Wednesday night, as Democrats prepare for the kick of the third night of the Democratic National Convention.
Mr. Trump spent the first half of the week visiting Iowa by storm destroyed and on the campaign trail, swaying through the battlefield states of Wisconsin, Minnesota and Arizona and painting a grim picture of the country for supporters as Joe Biden de White wins House in November .

On Tuesday, before he goes to Iowa and Arizona, the president announced he would pardon Susan B. Anthony, a leader of the women’s rights movement who was arrested in 1872 for illegal voting. Later in the day during a visit to Yuma, Arizona, on Tuesday, Mr. Trump trusts language about illegal immigration, claiming that under a Democratic presidential administration there would be open borders and an end to American immigration and customs.
The president’s events have served as a counter-programming to the Democratic National Convention, which begins Monday and will end Thursday with Biden’s speech accepting the Democratic presidential nomination.
Mr Trump’s briefing at the White House on Wednesday comes before Democrats will gather for a third day of speeches set to run from 9pm to 11pm. Determined to address supporters remotely are House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Senator Kamala Harris, Biden’s running mate. Former President Barack Obama will close the night.
