As early as Monday, it was announced that the animals would be handed over to the Širvintos district municipal administration, which would sign contracts with the animal keepers. In this way the dogs will get a temporary home.
To answer all the questions, as she herself said, Ž.Pinskuvienė organized a press conference on Tuesday.
Animal defenders are afraid
However, on Tuesday, Ilma Germanienė, director of the Ukmergė animal care home “Klajūnas”, distributed a video on Facebook, in which she claims that three other animal care organizations under her leadership are concerned about the animals of the village of Širvintos.
“Yesterday we were told that the animals we take will be processed and registered on behalf of our care organizations. I myself recently learned that all the animals taken in by our organizations are named after Mr. Vermackas, a veterinarian. And he can claim the rights of these animals when we cure, rehabilitate and order with them, ”said I.Germanienė.
According to her, several dozen dogs disappeared during the inspection at the farmer’s house on Monday, according to information that several dogs were observed on the neighbors’ territory. And now everything is being done so that those animals come back one day.
There are also reports online that Border Collie puppies are urgently being sold from this kennel.
Dogs – still a farmer
Ingrida Baltušytė-Četrauskienė, director of the municipal administration of the Širvintos district, stated that the veterinarian enters the chip and registers it in the system, and that the owner of the animal cannot be a legal entity, only a natural person. Therefore, A.Ušackas was included in the system as its owner.
There is no court decision yet, therefore the owner of the dogs is Ušackas, – added Ž.Pinskuvienė.
“There is no court decision yet, therefore the owner of the dogs is Ušackas,” added Ž.Pinskuvienė, noting that no one told the animal keepers that they could register those animals under their own name.
According to the director of the administration, the owner of the animals will have to pay for the chipping of the animals, unless the veterinarian does it for free. And the Širvintos district municipality will pay for the care of the animals: ten euros per day, there are 37 animals.
How much you will have to pay in total will depend on how long it takes you to take care of the animals. If the court quickly decides on the additional care of the animals, the time will be shorter.
Everybody knows the farmer
Ž.Pinskuvienė admitted that the situation in the district is really unpleasant. “There is probably no person in the district who does not know this farmer, but no one thought that the animals could be kept in such conditions,” said the Širvintos district mayor.

Ingrida Baltušytė-Četrauskienė, director of the Širvintos district municipal administration, stated that the work of collecting the animals was carried out until 3 pm.
The mayor said news of the people gathered and images in the area arrived early Sunday morning and she immediately drove to the scene herself. Convinced that the situation was not really good, since he also saw the injured dog, he went to the State Food and Veterinary Service (SFVS). The police were also called.
The managing director admitted that fewer dogs were found than he thought were there. Three more dogs failed to catch, they caught Tuesday. He also assured that the animals will be in temporary custody until the court, which will decide the future fate of the pets.
A police representative who attended the press conference argued that animal guards, volunteers and journalists were expelled from the area due to the need to maintain public order. Ensured that a pre-trial investigation was launched.

One of the questions was that the volunteers on duty near the areas left piles of garbage, but the mayor assured that the volunteers had taken care of themselves and the municipality took charge of the container so that people had a place to leave cups of coffee and other garbage. He also complained that not all volunteers were wearing masks, but Ž.Pinskuvienė also denied this.
“There is no relationship with Usack”
Ž.Pinskuvienė was also asked about his personal relationship with said farmer, that perhaps he and his activities were undercover.
There is no relationship with the farmer, only that we know him as a person from the Širvintos district and as a farmer. If anyone finds any connections, please let me know.
“In fact, based on current actions, you can probably see that I am covering up with the volunteers and calling the SFVS,” the mayor quipped. – There is no relationship with the farmer, only that we know him as a person from the Širvintos district and as a farmer. If anyone finds any connection please let me know unless you know something.
And to cover up, even if you were close or some very dear person, seeing those images that I saw there – in bags, bags, bones, skulls, do not be angry with those things, it is not very possible to hold on. There is no relationship with Ušackas, no family, no job. And he hasn’t given me a dog, because he doesn’t have those breeds. “
The mayor admitted that she knew the farmer’s ex-wife, who had been elected in Širvintos of the Century, but the family had long since divorced and the woman no longer worked or lived in Širvintos.
All the dogs were placed in temporary care.
“The last points are added. The meeting with the commission of the State Food and Veterinary Service (SFVS) working today in Širvintos, which was attended by both the director of the department Vaida Barkovskienė and the owner of the animals, has just ended. Essential:
- All dogs, both in the owner’s house and on the territory of the village of Širvintos, are placed in temporary care;
- A volunteer vet was found who agreed to chip all the animals for free;
- Contracts have been signed with care institutions / people entitled to care for dogs;
- The SFVS will apply to the court, which will make a final decision on the future of the animals within 5 business days.
It is important to mention that the commission already carried out an inspection today in another area of the kennel, possibly related to this situation. No violations were found, “the mayor wrote on Facebook Monday night.
According to Ž.Pinskuvienė, representatives of the SFVS and Širvintos district municipality visited up to four locations in Širvintos district, where inspections were carried out. She also urged animal rights defenders to leave the village of Širvintos and rest, because important work has already been done thanks to them.
In recent days, there has been a sharp increase in reports of potentially illegal kennels where animals are kept in dire conditions. On Monday, the volunteers were also on duty in Kėdainiai.
Lithuanian police announced at noon on Tuesday that from September 5. Due to the cruel treatment of animals, five pre-trial investigations were launched in the districts of Alytus, Marijampolė, Tauragė, Širvintos and Kretinga.
