According to data from the clinics, the occupancy of hospital facilities for the treatment of patients with COVID-19 in the Vilnius region reaches 85%, and that of resuscitation and intensive care, 90%.
The mean age of patients treated in resuscitation and intensive care units is 52 years.
According to doctors, the increased flow of patients is related to the release from quarantine conditions. You can see that the patients are now younger: from 41 to 60 years old, they have more complicated forms of the disease before being vaccinated, ”says the hospital report.
The Santara clinics are reorganizing work starting Monday, adjusting patient flow and establishing eight additional resuscitation sites. A total of 67 resuscitation and intensive care sites will be operated for patients with severe COVID-19.
“Currently, intensive negotiations are under way with other regional institutions regarding the preparation for the weekend and the development of services at the Vilnius City Clinical Hospital. The services and infrastructure provided here are all prepared to treat COVID-19 patients. We are trying to use missing staff from other personal health care institutions in the region, ”the report cites Aušra Bilotienė Motiejūnienė, managing director of the Santara Clinics.
According to her, changes are inevitable not only in the clinics of Santara, Vilnius city, but also in the entire Vilnius region, preparing to receive more serious patients.
