The number of new infections is alarming.

“The numbers are not just numbers. The numbers are the people who are by our side,” A. Dulkys told reporters Wednesday.

Currently, 118 COVID-19 patients are treated in hospitals in the country. 13 of them in resuscitation. The most tense situation is in Klaipeda. Most of the patients, almost half, are here.

“We have quite a few covid patients and their (aut.p.) number is growing,” Vinsas Janušonis, chief physician of Klaipėda University Hospital, told LNK television.

Most of the patients are middle-aged. Most, except four, were not vaccinated.

“Almost everyone with a delta variety. We only have one patient with a Brit. There is still a small part unidentified, it has not yet been followed. And for the rest, almost all delta cases, “explained V. Janušonis.

Part of the infectious disease corpus is already being delivered to COVID-19 patients. After filling all the available places in the university hospital, the reserve: Republican hospitals Klaipėda and Šilutė would come to the rescue.

These numbers are a serious sign for everyone. Authorities have already said: when the number of patients reaches 300, the restrictions will be returned. In short, re-quarantine.

Klaipeda residents don’t even want to think about it.

“Corona. Well, now I will show you those patients. There are already so many people, those figures are illnesses, that’s where it comes from,” said the resident interviewed by LNK.

Another Klaipeda resident also said he did not want to think about other restrictions.

“It just came to our notice then. We are in our second year as we are back and it has affected us a lot. Financially, you got a loan and I have a loan for an apartment to start my own business. I also got a loan. Everything costs money, ”said the man.

“Kaipėda, Vilnius … More tourists just came, they brought maybe a little more delta and they started to spread,” explained another interlocutor about the situation in the port city.

How we are going to continue living and with what restrictions the quarantine would return, the government is still deciding, but according to experts it will be different.

“When it comes to quarantine, I think in Lithuania we should avoid the kind of quarantine that we had this year, at the beginning of the year,” Mindaugas Stankūnas, a professor at the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences, told LNK.

Mr. Stankūnas would be in favor of a strict quarantine if the situation were to change drastically or if a new strain appeared, from which vaccines would not protect.

According to A. Dulkis, the quarantine restrictions will affect more those who have not been vaccinated and do not have the opportunity to have a passport.

“There are situations where we have to make certain exceptions, because not everyone can be vaccinated. There are a variety of nuances in the EU digital certificate: it must be coordinated with the Passport of Opportunity. Yes, there are IT problems, we want to fix all those things ”, explained the minister.

Response time is scheduled for August 10.

“The preventive position would be that people who have done their duty to society and to themselves and their loved ones – who have made an effort to get vaccinated and are fully vaccinated – should really experience a minimum of inconvenience, if any. “, on Wednesday after the government meeting that Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė pointed out at the press conference held in

The Prime Minister also talks about plans to give employers the right to exclude unvaccinated employees.

“There are also discussions on a proposal for people in certain professions who work in contact with work to include the possible mandatory vaccination. The government will consider those proposals, “said the prime minister.

It is already known that the next changes will be related to the Passport of Opportunities. Passport Testing Passport will no longer be free and only molecular PCR tests will be accepted for reliability.

“In any case, all the tests – higher, lower reliability – do not replace full-dose vaccination,” said A. Dulkys.

President Gitanas Nausėda also addressed the public again on Wednesday. The head of state asks to listen to the scientists, not the conspirators, and get vaccinated.

“I got vaccinated, my wife Diana was vaccinated, my two daughters were vaccinated and here during my last meeting with my father he asked me when she could get vaccinated for the third time. (…) Get vaccinated for yourself, for your loved ones and for the safety of all society ”, the president addressed the population at a press conference this Wednesday.

At the national or regional level and whether the quarantine will be announced, the Prime Minister has yet to respond. It is being considered that the hardening of the current emergency may be sufficient. The restrictions would focus primarily on those who do not have immunity.
