The companies of the Avia Solutions Group have announced that they will start flights from Vilnius to Palanga from June 26.
Flights are planned once a week, on Friday night the plane takes off from the capital to Palanga, and on Sunday night from the coast to Vilnius. Flight duration is reported to be approximately 50 minutes.
A flight from Vilnius to Palanga and back costs from 90 euros. The price includes 8 kg of hand luggage and 20 kg of checked luggage. Tickets are free for children up to 2 years old.
If you choose to go to Palanga by bus, the trip will take five times longer than by plane, about 4.5 hours, but tickets are much cheaper. Tickets cost around € 21 to € 25 each way, so a round trip would cost up to € 50 per person.
Another option is a train trip. Lithuanian Railways has been offering direct trips to Lithuania’s coastal resorts, including Palanga, for several years. However, if you choose to go to Palanga by train, you will only get from Vilnius to Kretinga, and the rest of the train station from here will need to be taken by a special bus.
The train journey from Vilnius to Kretinga takes approximately 3.5 hours, and the bus journey from Kretinga to Palanga takes approximately half an hour, so the total travel time is approximately 4 hours.
“Pajūrio ekspresas” leaves Palanga from Vilnius on Friday noon or Saturday morning, and returns to Vilnius on Sunday night. Tickets for Palanga cost 21 euros for economy class and 24.60 euros for business class. The train and bus trip is included in the ticket price. Therefore, the cost of the trip in both directions ranges from 42 to almost 50 euros. Children under the age of 7 ride free on Seaside Express trains.

Of course, you can always choose a trip to the beach by car. During the trip, the trip to Palanga from Vilnius is about an hour shorter than by bus, if you don’t stop to rest anywhere during the trip.
