According to Vytautas, when COVID-19 fell ill, I had to worry not only about my health, but also about other difficulties. He said he was lying at home for a week and when the temperature rose to 39.6, he began to suffocate, so he decided to call an ambulance (GMP).

“I’m calling, I’m waiting, all the operators are busy, they ask me to wait. I look forward to it and I look forward to seeing the information online. So I called three times until I finally got a call, an ambulance came and took me all wet “.

The man asked if it was not possible to organize a normal call order so that, for example, an answering machine would answer that the call was registered, all operators were busy and would be called as soon as they were free.

“The problem is solved, an informed person is waiting, not looking for information online with temperature. On the other hand, many older people do not have the Internet, so I do not understand who came up with this nonsense. I advise them to change the registration as soon as possible, then there will be no additional costs and the service will be understandable and accessible to everyone. “

Various details got stuck

Then, continuing with the story, he was taken to the central reception of the Santara clinics. It was already dark, it was raining, and he himself got out of the ambulance sweaty and the temperature had already reached 40 degrees.

“He took me outside to the wall with a box and sat me at a table. With a rope, dripping over my head, I was sitting outside. The nurse gave me a small brown brochure to fill out. There was dusk, there was no lighting, 8 questions in the brochure, the letters were so small that a normal person could not read in good lighting. It was necessary to sign after each article.

I did not read, I signed, but my wife’s contact details were ordered to be recorded. I kept sitting, the rain was dripping from the ceiling over my head, the stars were blinking in my eyes, I could barely breathe, I was breathing, I couldn’t remember anything. I said I didn’t remember it, so I ordered myself to write what I remembered. “

After the red tape, the man noticed another ambulance arriving. According to Vytautas, his chauffeur was holding an elderly woman standing, who also had time to fill out the documents.

“They sent me to the first car. If I have not had pneumonia yet, now it is guaranteed. Is it not possible to organize a normal admission record? Take a large outdoor tent from the military warehouse, build it so that the ambulance can leave the person carried under the roof so that it does not rain, the wind does not blow, there is no need to stand outside in the rain.

Put those carts in the store and check in in a normal environment. Who came up with that brochure that needed it? Biometric data has long been recorded in the passports of all Lithuanians. “

According to him, it would be better to build a finger reader in the admissions record, connect it to the admissions computer and do an admissions questionnaire with all the necessary questionnaire.

“He brought the man, sat down warmly, stuck his finger in, and the computer scanned. He printed a sheet in normal font: on one side – the data, on the other side – a memo explaining the disease, recommendations. A signature and all.”

The man assured that not much money would be required and that there should be no shortage of tents, but ironically asked if the simplification of the process would take five more government meetings, two bills and half a year to build a tent.

“After the search, the nurse pointed to those cars and told them to go first. It was not written which, first, the cars were not numbered. I went, I sat, waiting. I had a fever, the sweat was running, I began to undress because I wanted to cool off at least a little. An hour later, the nurse arrived, said that I had not gotten into that car and took her back to the office, touring the field again ”.

At the office, he said, he began to measure the temperature, but two thermometers didn’t work, and neither did the third.

“He took me to the nearby room, sat down and told me to wait. An hour later he arrived, injected drugs. An hour later it led to an X-ray. Again in the field, again in the cold, again in the rain. I went back to that room after the X-ray, I lay down on the bed. Covered with a transparent sintepon blanket. I was lying, shivering, wet and very cold, ”he recalled.

On the fifth morning, V. Prušinskas was brought to the old specification. hospital, but he no longer remembered how he was in the ward, because his head was very crooked and he had to be led by the hand.

“I went to bed, I disconnected. It is not possible to align the car in the tent, number it, make a covered passage to the X-ray. After all, there are places, everything fits perfectly. The result would be great, the carts would be marked, there would be no need to run across the field, the registration would be done on lighted and hot carts. They are spacious, warm, two beds can fit freely in a caravan ”, he exclaimed.

However, despite the unpleasant experience, the patient was very interested in thanking the doctors.

“I want to say publicly that they are amazing. Dalia Proškinaitė is an amazing doctor! All the staff that treats me is great. I think the psychologist still needs to work in the department, because people have a lot of questions and a doctor just can’t physically answer them. “

Ask for more understanding

Santara Clinics commented that patients may have to wait in line for their admission due to the high flow of applicants when arriving at the Center for Infectious Diseases, which is equipped with special heated containers in the backyard of the Center for Infectious Diseases.

“We also have to wait and help the doctor decide what treatment the patient needs after the exam.” Patients from the Center for Infectious Diseases can be transferred to regional support hospitals, admitting the most serious patients to the Resuscitation and Intensive Care Units of the Santara Clinics or the COVID-19 Hospitalization Wards.

Understandably, it is not easy and simple for a feverish patient to wait for help, but these days when the situation in Lithuania is extremely difficult, patient flows to hospitals are huge, a lot of staff is needed, I would like understanding and patience on the part of patients: doctors do everything. possible in this situation. “
