After the committee vote, it became clear that first place was shared by two cars: Peugeot 2008 and Volkswagen ID.3, which each scored 44 points. To find out the winner of the competition, the points of the first positions were calculated, but it turned out that both brands had received the first four places from the commission members. Finally, the tender commission called a meeting and announced “Volkswagen ID.3” as “Lithuanian Car of the Year”. This car received the most second-place votes from committee members.
Intrigue until the last minute
The huge intrigue in the main category “Car of the Year” was also due to the fact that none of the 10 members of the commission knew the votes of the others. It will be recalled that, out of 30 candidates, the commission initially (after numerous trials under various conditions) selected 7 finalists and now selects the winners. Thus, no one will know the outright winner until the last minute until the committee votes are announced and counted. The 15min portal, whose GAZAS heading is well known even outside Lithuania, is represented by the journalist Žilvinas Pekarskas.
