The curators Milda Dainovskytė and Vytenis Burokas selected five contemporary art projects for the annual cycle of exhibitions through a competition. The works form a conceptual exhibition, the architecture of which was created by architect Vlad Suncov. Of the nearly 100 applications, the exhibition included artists: Deividas Vytautas Aukščiūnas, Maarten Brijker, Eglė Razumaitė, Ieva Kotryna Ski, and Naglis Kristijonas Zakaras.

According to the decision of the International Commission, a prize of 4,000 euros will be awarded to an artist participating in the exhibition for the originality and relevance of the artistic expression of the work presented. Throughout the exhibition, visitors will also be able to vote for their favorite work, which will be awarded the Audience Award. The winners of the last prize, as well as the main prize, will be announced at the end of the exhibition, and the exhibition itself will be open for free until October 31.

This year, the exhibition of the exhibition has moved to a new and unusual space: the House of Composers in Žvėrynas. On Thursday night, invited representatives from business and culture gathered for a preliminary review of the exhibition, which was later extended to a festive evening at the Center for Contemporary Art. Guests gathered to watch the Twenty Fingers Duo’s unique audiovisual project, listen to French contestant Claros Giambino, and dance alongside Golden Parazyth. During the evening, a special catalog was presented, which crowned the five-year history of the project.

During the festive evening, Žaneta Fomova, director of JCDecaux Lietuva, said that where art and business meet, projects are born that create meaning for society.

“These exhibitions have become an integral part of the cultural life of the city. We are happy that thanks to these exhibitions we can discover new talents, support them, make their names famous and watch their careers grow. In six years, together with the CAC, we have created a great group of contemporary art fans, bringing together like-minded people from the business world, who also contribute to initiatives to support artists, ”said Ž.Fomova.

At this year’s project exhibition titled “Spaces”, visitors will be able to view video works, installations and sound works embedded in the Casa de los Compositores space. The artists’ works cover very different topics from sinks, queer to the challenges of protecting modern heritage. The exhibition of the exhibition also opens the basement of the House of Composers, where one of the works of art will be located.

According to the director of the CAC, Kęstutis Kuizinas, five new but promising artists are selected very carefully from the approximately one hundred applications submitted to the competition exhibition each year.

“Looking closely at their future careers, it is safe to say that most of the artists who participated in the exhibition are currently unique and important representatives of the field of contemporary art, organizing their solo exhibitions, presenting works at the most important art institutions and glorifying Lithuania. I believe that this exhibition has contributed, at least in part, to the success of the artists and this further encourages the continuation of this project ”, said K. Kuizinas.

The sixth exhibition of the contest “JCDecaux 2021 Prize: Spaces” starting on September 17. will open at the House of Composers in Vilnius (A. Mickevičiaus St. 29), the exhibition will be open II-VII from 2 pm to 8 pm. Admission to the exhibition is free.
