The order regarding the description of the procedure was signed by the Minister of Health, Aurelijus Veryga.

The new procedure went into effect on September 26.

According to SAM, people visiting their loved ones will be registered and will only be able to enter the room if their body temperature does not exceed 37.3 ℃. Visiting relatives in the hospital will require the permission of the head of the ward or, in her absence, the doctor on duty.

People will be able to visit the hospital if:

  • Visitors do not have symptoms of acute respiratory infections and are not isolated;
  • Hands are disinfected when entering and exiting the compartment;
  • Visitors and people who visit wear protective equipment (masks, respirators) that cover the nose and mouth, except in cases where they cannot be used due to peculiarities of the provision of personal health care services. Protective masks cannot be used by people with disabilities who, due to their health condition, cannot use the masks or whose use is partially harmful to their health.

People lying in hospitals will be able to visit if they have not been diagnosed with coronavirus, have no symptoms of coronavirus, and have not been in contact with an approved carrier. If people have these symptoms, family members should have the opportunity to visit a terminally ill patient.

Patients who do not present characteristic symptoms of coronavirus disease can be visited up to three times a week.

Patients with severe conditions, patients under 14 years of age, people with disabilities and other patients can be visited in cases determined by the supervisor or the doctor.

A person undergoing hospital treatment can only be visited by one person at a time, unless the director of the medical institution allows more visits.

A multi-site room cannot have more than one visitor at a time, unless permission is obtained from the institution director for more visitors.

People can only be visited during the visiting hours established by the director of the medical institution, for a maximum of 15 minutes per day.
