Hands need to be sanitized when entering and exiting each vehicle: All buses and trolleybuses are equipped with updated disinfectant dispensers, and thorough disinfection and cleaning of public transportation continues, according to a press release.

“Most of the rules for passenger safety in public transport have been in place since the spring and we are now further activating the safety requirements. We monitor and analyze passenger flows on a daily basis and adjust schedules as needed. This week, when students are on vacation and more and more people are working remotely, we hardly notice the congestion in public transport: more crowded and isolated vehicles. We will assess the situation and are already preparing for several scenarios.

We will plan the frequency and capacity of public transport in such a way that maximum safety is guaranteed. Of course, to prevent the spread of the virus, the awareness of the passengers themselves is also very important: do not forget the protective masks, the rules of personal hygiene, take a seat, leave space for other passengers when moving in public transport ”, he says Modesta Gusarovienė, Director of SĮ “Tiekimo paslaugos”.

At peak traffic stops, transit controllers will regulate passenger movement and, if necessary, number of passengers during rotations during east and west peaks, in order to ensure safe distance requirements. The controllers will not work at all, but in some of the most intense stops at the same time, therefore, the passengers themselves are asked not to get on the bus or trolley when they see the seats occupied, to wait for the next one.

Maintaining a safe distance at public transport stops reminds passengers of specially marked places: white circle symbols with visible standing icons and the word “safe”. They are marked at stops in Vilnius where the highest incoming passenger flows are recorded. The first stops were marked in September, and this week there will be 20 additional stops for safe waiting areas. Protective masks are also reminded to stop at public stops.

Passengers will see the safety distances marked at the following stops:
