According to Ginreta Megelinskienė, Head of the Infectious Disease Management Division of the Vilnius Department of the National Center for Public Health (NVSC), the situation in the region remains extremely difficult.
“Currently, we are seeing the same ways of spreading the virus in Vilnius county, which we are monitoring throughout Lithuania. The infection mainly affects those institutions, organizations, companies where it is difficult to maintain infection control, where people from different social backgrounds gather. Compared to the fall, the trends have changed. In both September and October, Vilnius County stood out in cases of infection in leisure facilities, ”says G. Megelinskienė.
According to her, despite the significant increase in the number of cases, with the help of the Lithuanian Armed Forces, it is still possible to conduct epidemiological investigations of cases. However, it is clear that 700 cases a day, when, for example, 530 cases were recorded in Vilnius County for the entire month of September, there is no tendency to speak of a decrease in infection in the near future .
“It is necessary to reduce communication. This is the only effective measure that we must now not only talk about, but also take. We invite people to listen to this request from us, the public health professionals, as well as the soldiers who the volunteer soldiers assist us, ”says the doctor, epidemiologist.
According to experts, the largest outbreaks in Vilnius County have recently been recorded at Vilkpėdė Hospital, where a total of more than 300 cases of infection have been detected, as well as at Mykolas Marcinkevičius Hospital, where almost 200 have been recorded cases. At that time, Senevita approved 89 cases, 72 COVID-19 cases at the Vilnius Social Welfare House for the Elderly and 36 at the Abromiškės Rehabilitation Hospital.
Also, as of November 1. 293 cases of coronavirus infection were recorded in the Vilnius Republic University Hospital.
Since the beginning of October, 186 cases of infection have been registered in the Santara clinics.
In addition, recently chimneys have been registered in Vilnius county in Vilnius correctional institution (70 cases), Vilnius Šilo school (29 cases of infection), Seimas (25 cases), Vilniaus šilumos tinklai (17 cases), pension for children and young people of the city of Vilnius (13 cases), “Namelis medyje” nursery-nursery (11 cases), Nemenčinė polyclinic (8 cases), “Žiburėlis” nursery-nursery (8 cases), “Mamos delne nursery-nursery ”(7 cases),“ Vilniaus vandenys ”company (5 cases), Motiejus Šimelionis Gymnasium (4 cases), Buividiškės Basic School (4 cases).
In all cases, NVSC epidemiologists contacted representatives of institutions, companies and organizations, provided consultations on the management measures of the COVID-19 disease. NVSC specialists also visited the institutions where epidemiological diagnoses of the outbreak were carried out in situ.
Note that the figures provided are the number of cases registered in that institution, that is, some cases are not related to each other (for example, registered in different bodies, departments, etc.).
