“There are no more paid flu vaccines at the polyclinic. Polyclinics survey providers, but providers themselves do not know if there will be additional vaccine supplies for Lithuania, therefore they do not make proposals,” said Viktorija Turauskytė, chief of the Vilnius Municipality Health Care Department.

The Kaunas Polyclinic no longer has paid vaccines, its director Paulius Kibiša informed BNS.

“The interest is high, the purchase is in progress. As soon as we have it, we will inform the patients and we will vaccinate them more,” said the head of the polyclinic.

Free vaccines for people at risk are still available in Vilnius, and will be available in Kaunas in early November.

According to data from the State Health Insurance Fund (VLK), approximately half of the 245 thousand patients have already been handed over to Lithuanian medical institutions. this year, the state bought the flu vaccine to vaccinate the most vulnerable groups.

In Vilnius, only reimbursed vaccines are available

The free flu vaccine is given to people over 65 and chronically ill people of any age, pregnant women, women, nursing home and nursing home residents, and medical personnel.

“There are free vaccines available at the Lazdynai Polyclinic, Šeškinė and the Central Polyclinic. All outpatient clinics, including those listed, are waiting for the vaccines to be added in the second stage, ”said the representative of the Vilnius municipality.

According to her, these vaccines are still available and are expected to be supplemented in November.

According to V. Turauskytė, for example, the Šeškinė polyclinic ordered twice as many vaccines at that time as last year, but this week it has already used them all.

“The need for vaccines has really increased,” said the head of the health department.

According to her, it is currently not possible to say when these paid vaccines could reach the outpatient clinic, but ways are being sought to get them.

“It just came to our attention then. Our polyclinics are searching and even finding, so we will coordinate with the ministry to allow the introduction of those that cannot be imported at this time. We are looking for all kinds of options,” said V. Turauskytė .

Kaunas expects vaccinations in November

According to P. Kibiša, director of the Kaunas Polyclinic, the institutions have now completed paid and reimbursed vaccinations. Reimbursable vaccines are expected in the first weeks of November and paid vaccines in late November.

“Currently, we have vaccinated the flu vaccine funded by the state with everything we received: 6.3 thousand. Quickly, there was a lot of interest. We have also vaccinated the commercial vaccine,” he said.

The institution acquired 44 percent this year. more commercial vaccines than last year throughout the season, but they were sold out within a month.

“Demand seems to have increased around the world and the vaccine is quite a complex biological product,” Kibiša said.

He stressed that it would not be too late to receive additional vaccines, since the highest peak of influenza is registered in January-February.

“Both November and December are good months to get vaccinated, as immunity develops,” said the head of the polyclinic.

Repurchased more vaccinated

According to VLK data, this year 45 percent was acquired. more flu vaccines reimbursed than last year, nearly half of them have already reached treatment centers.

“Currently, almost half of the amount of vaccine purchased has been delivered to the country’s medical institutions, that is, 108 thousand. dose. The remaining vaccine purchased will be delivered to medical facilities in installments in mid-December. Part of the vaccine should be delivered to medical institutions in the second half of November, ”said Agnė Dmitrijevaitė, advisor to VLK’s Centrally Paid Medicines Division.

The vaccine, according to him, is delivered annually, both because of the supplier’s limited ability to deliver the full amount at once and because medical facilities cannot stock the full amount of the vaccine requested.
