The mayor’s advisor, Karolis Žukauskas, presented ten possible actions to be taken to the representatives of the restoration meeting.
Because those institutions that operate outdoors will open first, like last year, there is more freedom in building outdoor tables in public places. According to the rules adopted for outdoor cafes, it is mandatory to maintain a barrier-free lane: at least 1.5 m wide on high-traffic streets in the old town, at least 1.2 m wide on quiet streets in the old town and at least 2.25 m wide in the rest of the city.
As there are more places abroad than expected for those who want to open to the outside, additional spaces are currently being sought. The municipality is expected to provide more knowledge on this topic next week. The results of the allocation of existing planned public spaces to outdoor cafes will be announced on Friday.
During the first quarantine, four streets in the city of Vilnius were closed, where outdoor cafes could be located. A similar order will apply this year, although it is still not entirely clear about Stiklių Street in the old town, which was closed last year, as well as Dominikonų Street, proposed by several business representatives during the virtual meeting. The mayor’s adviser does not rule out the possibility of more streets being closed, urging companies to submit offers in early May.

As in the last year, it will not be possible to trade from food carts in the old town, but in other places a freer order will apply. The original idea is to invite these merchants to settle on the White Bridge, although this place has not yet been definitively approved.
To help companies financially, it is announced that a reduction to zero of the terrace fee is being considered. The city council will consider abolishing the tax on Wednesday.
It is desired to provide 75% of the rent to companies that rent premises in the municipality. Discounts for six months. The Council approves compensation for the different organizations affected, part of which will be used for this compensation. This discount is most likely valid for those institutions that will operate from January to July 1, regardless of when it is open.

The municipality is considering extending the lease contracts with the company. They can be extended, but not more than 10 months in accordance with the law.
K.Žukauskas also presented three more abstract ideas for assistance to catering establishments. One of them is an immunity passport, which would help start operations before a country begins to record acceptable results from the spread of the virus. The municipality is discussing this measure with the Government.
The representative of the Vilnius city municipality also mentioned that the city mayor will request support packages for companies.
Representatives of the municipality also promote other private aid projects, such as the project that started last year talonai.lt, which was sponsored by the Municipality of Vilnius. The project invited restaurants, cafes and bars to register for free during the first quarantine, and Vilnius residents to buy the services of their favorite places, so that these places do not collapse during the most difficult period. The vouchers purchased could be used later when catering establishments open.
