Veryga – the duration of the insulation can be significantly shortened

As A. Veryga said at the press conference, on Monday the COVID-19 committee discussed the general situation in Lithuania, the situation in Raseiniai, which, according to the minister, is gradually improving and due to the duration of the isolation.

“Scientists’ conclusions have been presented and there are really such optimistic things. People who have even been infected but have mild symptoms become infectious soon enough. After this meeting, we will review the isolation rules and probably that the isolation will be shorter for those infected ”, said the head of SAM.

According to A. Veryga, the point is not the test itself: “because certain parts of the virus may be present after the symptoms have passed. But as far as we have heard today, a person in such a situation is no longer contagious. One of those things is the presence or absence of symptoms. It is very likely that the duration of that isolation will be significantly reduced. “

As the SAM manual says, it is important to assess the presence or absence of symptoms. It is also “important to understand that it is not 37 days but a shorter period when a person is infected. And how many days will we decide to apply, we will continue consulting with epidemiologists. “

The family doctor may decide to shorten the length of isolation.

When asked by journalists if stricter measures were planned to handle the pandemic, the minister replied that this had not been discussed until now.

“On the contrary, as I said, there is a good knowledge about isolation. Science doesn’t stop, we learn new things, and people may no longer need to be isolated for so long. And most of the cases are in those chimneys ”, said A. Veryga.

According to the Minister, one or more specific areas that would be significantly highlighted and could be covered by such a specific measure are not yet seen.

“In the future, if the disease spreads, we should first expect restrictions where there are meetings, where people gather,” added the minister.

As the situation in Raseiniai improves, the restrictions are easing somewhat. The mobile checkpoint, according to the minister, is no longer so crowded.

“Hopefully we can control that situation there. But this is a warning and a very serious sign. Now it has been seen that a letter from a doctor who went there as a volunteer has been distributed on social networks, to municipalities and mayors, who infection control should be taken very seriously. Although the trainings were organized, it seems that not everyone really took them seriously. If the virus spreads in medical institutions, it means that infection control was not carried out or not taken very seriously, ”said A. Veryga.
