“Now there is no need, but if we achieve the indicators that we calculate for other countries for which self-isolation is recommended, that is, at least 16 cases per 100,000. The population, in which case, I think, would definitely return to the obligation to wear masks, “the minister told BNS.
According to him, this does not necessarily mean a new quarantine. First, the requirements for wearing masks would arise at points of public transportation, sales, and assembly.
“We are ready to return certain measures, if necessary. I mentioned that we will first go back to those that cause the least harm to people’s lives or the economy: masks, distances and the like,” the minister said.
The average incidence of coronavirus in Lithuania currently reaches 1.9 cases per 100,000. population.
Veryga: the growth of coronavirus cases is at risk of morbidity in popular tourist centers
The risk of a second wave of coronavirus in Lithuania is determined by the high morbidity among Lithuanians in popular resorts, says Health Minister Aurelijus Veryga.
“We see countries that are not far away and these are our compatriots’ favorite travel routes, and there are definitely more than a hundred people who have left for some of them. I am talking about Bulgaria and other countries that are popular as destinations tourism: and the situation in Croatia is gradually deteriorating. It would be naive to expect the virus to overlook us for some miraculous reason, “BGA told reporters on Monday.

However, he said, much will determine how exemplary returnees from affected countries will meet self-isolation requirements.
“Much will depend on how people have arrived, how long they will follow the requirements or recommendations for self-isolation, how long they will not responsibly attend any celebration, event and will not infect,” said the minister.
“We may not have (growth – BNS), but the preconditions for everyone to really grow are because the virus, as we see, is spreading in the world, we are gaining momentum, and Lithuania is a really open country so far and really we can get it very soon, “he said.
However, A. Veryga does not plan to adjust the requirements for visitors.
“They are now regulated quite strictly: there is a list of countries from which isolation is mandatory, we actually monitor epidemiological indicators and sometimes react more than once a week, and more often than last week due to the inclusion of Romania on the compulsory isolation list. ” – said the minister.
He stressed that expanding the scope of testing is pointless, as it would not change the need for self-isolation yet, and a negative test can give people the false impression that the danger no longer exists.
“The tests do not compensate for or eliminate quarantine; isolation remains a key measure of waiting for symptoms or not,” Veryga said.
Since the beginning of June, 48 cases of imported coronaviruses have been registered in Lithuania.
There are currently 63 countries on the list from which to isolate yourself when you return.
Affected are those countries where the incidence of coronavirus infection in the last 14 days is greater than 25 cases per 100,000. population.
