Health Minister Aurelijus Veryga announced on Monday that both the Government Emergency Commission (WESC) and the Emergency Management Committee COVID-19 agree that the quarantine in Lithuania could last until June 16 inclusive.
“Both the committee and the commission have decided to make a proposal to the government so that this week the government can decide to lift the quarantine from June 17.” The conditions that would remain and what would be determined in an emergency situation at the state level will be decided on Wednesday, “Veryga told reporters on Monday.
Certain restrictions will remain
According to the minister, lifting the quarantine would leave some of the restrictions on medical facilities, mass events and travel.
“Some restrictions on movement, border control, especially when it comes to third countries and countries with a morbidity rate of more than 25 cases per 100,000. The population must remain. The restrictions on mass events must also be maintained, whose increase in the number of participants has already been announced. In addition, recommendations on planned services, on the operation of medical institutions, are certain recommendations on what to do, “said A. Veryga.

What will change after lifting the quarantine?
In accordance with the entire situation and the availability of the health system, we propose to the Government to end the quarantine on June 16, but to abandon the emergency at the state level, after the WESC meeting, the Minister of the Interior, Rita Tamašunienė spoke and commented on how life will change.
“Depending on the situation, the availability of the health system, the governance mechanism that we have developed during that time, we unanimously propose to end the quarantine on June 16, but leaving the emergency at the state level and the preparation that now exists for all institutions.
What will fundamentally change? We are on the path of mitigation. Economic activities and institutions are returning to normal life in practice as they were before COVID-19. Of course, the Minister of Health remains his chief of operations and his recommendations to all economic operators, both public and private, remain valid. But all the strict requirements become recommendations. And so the restrictions that society has experienced during those months will gradually be lifted, “said the minister.
The emergency situation allows for the extension of border controls. Starting June 17, it offers to leave the arrival control by plane and ferry. There will be no passport control procedures for land roads and normal procedures will be followed.
The new resolution proposes to include two groups of foreigners: holders of national visas and those who come from so-called safe third countries according to a list approved by the operations manager.
“The hours of work of the restoration, the entertainment and the places of entertainment will not be limited, they will be able to work. Also events, the Ministry of Culture with the Ministry of Health are looking for solutions, especially for events organized indoors and increasing the number of Participants. All the specific decisions and figures will appear in the government resolution on Wednesday, now there is only one draft, “said the minister.
The Minister noted that recommendations will still be issued on how to guarantee the health and safety requirements in the institutions.
New diseases
Six new cases of coronavirus were confirmed in Lithuania last day, the total number increased to 1,720, the Ministry of Health announced Monday.
309 people still suffer from coronavirus and 1,331 have recovered.
