The Minister of Health, Aurelijus Veryga, head of Emergency Operations at the state level, informed journalists on Monday about the latest solutions related to the management of the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation in the country.

The quarantine will take effect from midnight on Wednesday.

Veryga said that due to the deterioration of the situation, the quarantine would be announced in more municipalities than before. According to the minister, the additional municipalities where the quarantine will be announced are the following: Kaunas city, Klaip ciudadda city, Šilalė district, Širvintos district, Trakai district, Telšiai district, Vilnius city and Vilnius district.

In those municipalities where the quarantine is announced, it will be announced as of Wednesday, October 28, at zero hours. In addition, the quarantine conditions themselves have been supplemented by an aggravating situation. This is determined in the municipalities, where the quarantine comes into effect, the use of masks will be mandatory in all public places, except people who practice sports, participate in high-level competitions, are instructors or judges, people with disabilities, and that during the first quarantine, they will not have to wear masks outside the residential area. places, cities, towns where people do not agree with other people ”, explained the minister.

It is also established that the flow of service users in cultural, leisure, entertainment and sports institutions is limited. An area of at least 10 square meters must be provided for one person.

In municipalities where the quarantine will be announced, the masks must also be worn outdoors. There will be no spectators at sports competitions, spectators will remain at cultural events, but the distance should be kept closer.

The competition can only be held without spectators.

“In the old municipalities, where the quarantine has already been announced, these additions also come into force as of Wednesday, and in the new ones, it is natural that the quarantine itself comes into effect as of Wednesday with all the conditions added. On Wednesday, the Government will receive a decision on resolution 152 – on the amendment of the emergency at the state level, ”said A. Veryga.

It would stipulate that all events and meetings that take place in open and closed spaces are prohibited, with the exception of high-profile competitions that take place without spectators.

“This means that all competitions in stadiums must be held without spectators,” said the head of the Ministry of Health (SAM).

Also for cultural events, when tickets are sold electronically, access control is ensured and a distance of at least 2 meters between spectators is ensured. This means that every 2 chairs will not be enough to sit, you will need about every 3 chairs. “These proposals will be presented on Wednesday, if they are accepted, they will go into effect on Friday,” said A. Veryga.

Will not visit patients

R. Veryga also received questions about whether the order of access to doctors will change.

“The order of access to doctors does not change. Only in the municipalities where quarantine is introduced, it is prohibited to visit patients who are not critically ill, children under 14 years of age and mothers. In any case, the provision of services does not change with these solutions ”, promised the head of SAM.

According to A. Veryga, the reagents for coronavirus research are still sufficient, but the occupation of free beds for the treatment of patients infected by coronavirus is growing rapidly.

“About 60 more people were hospitalized over the weekend, a number that is growing very fast. If we look at the old 401 bed, then today’s data, we were 83 percent occupied. Hospitals are increasing in number, with 262 additional unoccupied beds to be used to treat COVID-19 patients. There is still the possibility of expanding the beds by almost 600 in the region, “said A. Veryga.

It is true, as the minister pointed out, the processes to use another 600 beds are already more complicated. As a result, it may be necessary to relocate other patients, delay certain scheduled services, and the like.

Šiauliai is also threatened with redness

According to A. Veryga, the city of Šiauliai is also threateningly approaching the red zone.

“I would not rule out the possibility that this amendment could be announced on Wednesday, of course, the quarantine will not go into effect there the same day.

Interestingly, 15 municipalities have moved from the green zone to the yellow zone since last week.

There are only 5 municipalities left in the green zone: Tauragė, Alytus, Utena, Varėna and Rokiškis. The situation is even worse for those who were green, ”warned A. Veryga.
