The Head of State Operations A. Veryga stated that in general the assessment of the situation in the country is not improving.

“In general, the number of infected and sick people is growing, as well as the percentage of people whose route of infection can no longer be determined. This means that the infection is spreading throughout the country,” he said.

The Minister reported that, unfortunately, it began to grow a little more intensely and covidinių bed occupancy.

“We had a little more than 40 percent last week and now we have 57 percent. That is why today we will talk with the organizing bodies about the possibility of expanding that number of places. This means that some institutions will have to reorganize their work some beds that have been assigned to other patients will need to be rearranged. covidiniams patients so they can be helped, ”Veryga said.

The minister has previously warned that there will be some alarm when the occupancy rate of the so-called COVID-19 beds reaches 70%. He said that then we should start thinking about restricting the work of certain medical institutions.

Planned services do not promise to stop at all

The Minister recalled that today in the 5 largest cities, where there are rooms for the treatment of infectious patients, the total number of beds declared is 401. And 57% of them are occupied today, but that, he says, does not mean that there are so many beds at all.

“Why are we talking about the possibility of expanding their number, then in these so-called clusters we have around 17 thousand. beds, more than 600 resuscitation beds, nearly 580 are with artificial ventilation, about 5500 – with oxygen.

At this point, when the main ones fill up covidins beds, organizing institutions talk to treatment facilities where patients can be redistributed. (…) Today it will be very difficult to say how much this will change the provision of scheduled services, it will depend on how many extra beds will be needed.

If you need a lot of them then by all means get as much sleep as possible covidinių patients, there will be fewer patients with other diseases there, but whatever the number, I couldn’t say today. But in general, today it is not planned to completely stop the provision of scheduled services ”, assured A. Veryga.

The portal tv3.lt recalls that Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis shared the news that new decisions are being taken due to the epidemiological situation. If they don’t help, local quarantines will have to be announced.
