“Latvia applies an automatic mechanism according to which countries are included in the list of affected countries. And this means that if the Latvian government does not change the order, Lithuania will be included in the list of affected countries and it will be necessary to isolate itself after going to Latvia from Lithuania, ”the minister wrote on Facebook Tuesday night.

“It is true that Latvia does not plan to carry out any real border control and it will depend on the conscience of the new arrivals,” he added.

Veryga said this after a long-distance conversation between the three Baltic Health and Foreign Ministers on Tuesday.

According to the minister, no decisions have yet been made on the “travel bubble” of the three countries, and it was agreed to resume the conversation on Wednesday.

Veryga also said that it had been agreed to raise the issue of the “travel bubble” at a meeting of the Latvian government on Wednesday.

“The previous opinion of the Latvian government was to make no exceptions and apply the same rules to neighboring Lithuania and Estonia as to other countries,” said A. Veryga.

He added that he expected to know Latvia’s position on Wednesday night.

Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia have agreed to the so-called “travel bubble”: citizens of these countries can freely travel between these countries.
