Growth is still remarkable, but not exponential

According to the minister, the growth of new coronavirus cases and the percentage of positive cases detected were still observed last week. However, he also noticed a good trend: growth was no longer exponential.

“We just realized that the situation was gradually stabilizing. We will see how it will really be this week, because the measures are behind the figures ”, explained A. Veryga.

D. Razmuvienė also noted that the situation is stabilizing, but the morbidity curve has not dropped yet.

At the same time, the Minister noted that currently all municipalities in Lithuania are turning red according to morbidity, except for one: Neringa. However, Neringa is in the yellow zone only because, according to the minister: “the physical number of cases, not absolute, was small.”

When asked by the minister what is the probability that the quarantine will be relaxed or ended in a couple of weeks, A. Veryga replied that so far there is very little hope of this kind.

“So far, there is very little chance and hope that something will be canceled in two weeks. Although we see initial signs that the situation is stabilizing, we are not talking about any decline yet. We still had growth last week. <...> Patient flows to treatment facilities are lagging for at least another week. This means that some of the infected people will reach medical facilities within a week and the burden on physicians will not decrease. In such a situation, there is no reason to speak of any mitigation, ”said the minister.

When asked by the Minister if he plans to propose to the Government an extension of the quarantine, A. Veryga replied: “Yes, I plan to propose and I have mentioned previously that there is little doubt that it will be extended.”

It is true that the operations manager could not specify how long he would propose to extend the quarantine.

The minister also added that there may be a variety of minor quarantine changes.

However, according to Mr. Veryga, such adjustments would only be more technical in the context of various attempts to circumvent the restrictions. Tighter restrictions are not yet planned.

According to the minister, the curfew is not yet being considered and would be a last resort that is not necessary at this time.

Physician morbidity has increased dramatically

According to D. Razmuvienė, the latest outbreak is currently occurring in the Skaudvilė Adakava welfare home.

Since the start of the pandemic, 2,282 cases of coronavirus have been reported among doctors, according to the epidemiologist. Currently, 1992 of them are still in treatment.

“Compared with the previous week, the number of doctors was lower: 1,818. <...> We see that it started to grow exponentially in October. In November, there were 296 positive coronavirus cases reported by doctors this weekend.

According to D. Razmuvienė, 55% of asymptomatic cases are currently registered.

The epidemiologist also noted that although the majority of COVID-19 patients are of working age, the incidence is also increasing in the age group 65 years and older.

Most offensesdue to wearing masks

A. Veryga also reviewed violations related to the coronavirus. Data has now been collected from 58 municipalities on coronavirus-related violations detected by police officers.

The highest number of mask use violations was found: 44. Violations were also detected at points of sale: 14, at meeting places.

“The percentage is very low of the inspected establishments, population, in general, most of the population, establishments or companies comply with the quarantine requirements,” said the minister.

The first mobile team started operating in Raseiniai

A. Veryga also announced that the first mobile team in Raseiniai had started work. These teams must be formed by each municipality.

The team consists of a doctor, a nurse and his assistant. The mobile team will visit people with coronavirus and people at risk (people 60 years and older, pregnant women with chronic diseases) and can also come according to the doctor’s instructions.

A. Veryga recalled that mobile points for coronavirus tests can be registered online at 1808.lt. If you experience symptoms, you must fill out a form on this page.

Took the accusations

Veryga also bit political opponents who allegedly obstructed the fight against the coronavirus.

“And other news not entirely funny, although others are not gratifying. I want to thank us for the great help of various institutions. We hear a lot of criticism from the public procurement service, we get a lot of advice and perhaps less help.

But I just want to mention the amount of different research we get. There are 6 inquiries from the Special Investigation Service, 6 inquiries from the Financial Crimes Service, 73 inquiries from members of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania on all matters related to COVID-19, judicial and tax investigations related to the complaint of the former parliamentarian Puteikis, about 46 operations. the legality of the manager’s decisions and the like.

I’d just like to let everyone know that queries usually come with a page or two of very detailed questions, specify various conditions, collect information, and the like. This is for those who expect a good handling of the situation, I just want to inform you that all these queries and demands are being attended by people who need to coordinate laboratories, to put procedures in place for the proper functioning of the treatment facilities.

In the spring, when the situation was really tough, the increased focus certainly did not bring health to a manager who had already left. As a result, we have lost the human ministry, which is very necessary today to coordinate the activities of the institutions. And other team members fall from the stress they experience. With such sarcastic gratitude, I want to appeal to common sense and ask for normal help, ”said the minister.

Warned about misinformation

Lithuanian Armed Forces representative at the SAM Emergency Operations Center, overseeing disinformation management issues Capt. Mažvydas Kunevičius said that the scope of the disinformation is still not diminishing and poses great difficulties. In October alone, 272 signs of misinformation were observed.

“It is notable that hostile information was spread on purpose to cause dissatisfaction in the Lithuanian people, promote frustrations, deceive and oppose society,” said the captain.
