As Minister Aurelius Veryga said at a press conference, 5 private laboratories that can guarantee the safety of patients and staff have the right to conduct paid coronavirus tests. These labs take the sample themselves and examine it themselves.
“Therefore, people who wish to investigate should contact them directly, no shipping is required. The Ministry does not regulate the prices at which laboratories carry out tests. Laboratories can only carry out paid tests if they guarantee the quantity of laboratory tests necessary to meet the needs of the public. So if the need for research still increases and the laboratories doing the research can no longer guarantee it, there are quotas, after which private laboratories will only be able to conduct paid research at that time, “he said A. Veryga.
According to the Minister, there are 5 such laboratories in total: UAB Baltic medics, UAB Diagnostikos laboratorija, UAB Practical Medicine, UAB SK Impeks Medicinos diagnikos centras and UAB In Vitro Diagnostics.
The Minister emphasizes that he does not require an independent study, but use it when necessary, but there is no other option.
Also at a press conference, the minister asked medical institutions to resume the provision of scheduled services, since only half of them have currently done so.
“As patients say, it is not just a coronavirus infection, and patients need other health care, institutions must hurry to do so,” Veryga said.
R. Veryga mentioned that the number of remote queries increased during the quarantine, up to 68 times. According to the minister, this is a good trend.
