According to the minister, due to the identified cases, many questions are already being raised in educational institutions about whether the entire institution should go to distance education. Veryga, for his part, emphasized that each situation was dealt with individually.

“Based on an on-site assessment of the epidemiological situation, decisions are made, but this certainly does not mean that the entire institution should go to distance education. “All the measures are designed for this, in order to separate the flows as efficiently as possible, so that in case of contagion, both the youngest children and the teachers would have to be isolated or sent to distance education” said the minister.

We invite you to see the press conference:

Veryga added that there was no need to panic and send many children home until epidemiologists had conducted an assessment and made the following recommendations:

He stressed that there are more than 1,000 educational institutions, so if a school has decided or received instructions from specialists to teach at a distance, this should not be seen as some kind of difficult situation.

“Apparently, it still makes sense to explain who still needs to separate these flows, to implement measures that prevent communication between different classes and groups. It should be borne in mind that those who leave are isolated, they will not do so during the entire school year, sooner or later they will return to the educational process. (…) So, educational institutions should simply follow the recommendations given, ”said the Minister.

Infected by smoking a hookah in celebration

“During this celebration, hookah was smoked and all those who got sick, that is, 9 people, smoked hookah. And there were about 30 guests, so if there were more water pipe smokers, we are expecting more illnesses. A relatively large number of people with contact has been identified, about 100. These people are considered high risk and all are isolated. They are from institutions as important as the Trakai district municipality, police officers, elderly employees, ”said R. Lingienė.
