The indicator will change again

Veryga said Monday that the COVID-19 committee was considering dropping 25 cases per 100,000 residents over the past 14 days.

“Instead, it is proposed to add a country to the list of affected countries if that country’s morbidity rate exceeds our morbidity rate by at least 10%.” Third countries would be evaluated separately, since the information published by the parties is not reliable in all cases ”, said the minister.

Raseiniai anxiety

According to the head of SAM, the most difficult situation at the moment is in the municipality of Raseiniai.

“Last week, the morbidity rate per 100,000 inhabitants was 998. I can only remind you that in Lithuania this rate is less than 50. In Raseiniai it is almost 1,000.

It is unfortunate that we hear from both professionals and city officials that testing is slow and that we hear disturbing news that residents are reluctant to believe in the virus and the seriousness of the situation. I would like to say once again that this is an exceptionally difficult municipality and an exceptionally difficult situation, so I would ask for a serious evaluation of all NVSC decisions, ”urged the Minister.

A. Veryga made no secret of the fact that local quarantine was being considered in Raseiniai.

“What makes the situation of Raseiniai different from Nemenčinė: after the adoption of stricter measures in Nemenčin cua, the quarantine was announced throughout the country and was valid throughout the country, so it was not necessary to coordinate it with the municipality. Now there must be a joint request from the municipality and the ministry to the government, “added the minister.

The situation in the municipality of Radviliškis is also difficult. Last week, the morbidity rate was 464.

This Wednesday, the Government will discuss the application of some measures of these municipalities. Representatives of the municipalities will also be discussed ”, said the head of SAM.

“What differs from Nemenčinė is that after the adoption of stricter measures in Nemenčinė, the quarantine was announced throughout the country and it was valid throughout the country, so there was no need to coordinate with the municipality. Now it should there must be a joint request from the municipality and the ministry to the Government, ”added the minister.

When asked by journalists if the quarantine scenario could be repeated in Raseiniai and Radviliškis, when hairdressers were closed, shops operated shorter, other companies could not provide their services, the Minister replied that this was a possible option.

“We can really see those measures that were announced in Lithuania during the quarantine. But they will be discussed with the municipalities themselves. However, if it is decided to publish local quarantines, there will be more measures than now,” promised the head of SAM.

The main focus of epidemiologists is the social care homes.

According to R. Lingienė, the Blinsturbiškė welfare home in Raseiniai district is currently receiving the most attention from epidemiologists; now, more than 70 cases are related to this outbreak.

“It is perfectly understandable that nursing conditions at this institution continue to be difficult. <...> There are not enough service personnel, doctors. It was ordered to search for personnel urgently, “said the epidemiologist.

Furthermore, according to R. Lingienė, he was urgently asked to find an infection control specialist: “not only the non-compliance of infection control, but also the lack of basic knowledge is very clear.”

Vilnius phenomenon

According to R. Lingienė, in Vilnius you can see a phenomenon that is not visible in other cities.

“In recent weeks, the infection very often enters Vilnius institutions, companies and organizations from people who bring it in from post-work activities. It’s from various dance studios, contact sports, choir rehearsals. I’m not just talking about professional choirs, I’m talking about amateurs in particular. Therefore, if there is a possibility, we ask Vilnius residents to limit these activities, ”said R. Lingienė.

Forced isolation is not considered

In Raseiniai, despite the difficult situation, residents are in no rush to test for COVID-19. Still, according to the minister, forced testing would not be a good tool because it simply would not be possible to implement and force people to undergo testing. The stricter measures promised in the municipalities of Raseiniai and Radviliškis are currently being considered.

“They would be presented to the government meeting on Wednesday. These are local, local quarantines. The specialists are still arguing,” said A. Veryga.

Finland has announced border controls

According to A. Veryga, 96 affected countries were approved on Friday, of which isolation is mandatory upon return.

“Unfortunately, the situation is deteriorating in many countries. <...> Improvements have been recorded in Luxembourg, Malta, Croatia and Switzerland. In all other countries, the situation is deteriorating and practically all are over 16.

Finland has announced the introduction of border controls. Compatriots planning to go to Finland should explain this. Finland has determined that only foreigners who legally live, work, study or travel to the country for family reasons will be allowed to enter the country, ”said A. Veryga.

A message for those in self-isolation

A. Veryga also recalled at a press conference about the election procedure during the pandemic. According to the minister, those who are in self-isolation can also vote, all they have to do is fill out the application on the CEC website.

An application to vote at home can also be submitted using the short number 1855. This form must be submitted by October 7 and before a repeat vote by October 21.
