Veryga addressed the public and relayed a call from the hospitals that organize the treatment of the coronavirus.

“It has to do with the difficult situation in which, after filling the main hospitals, the lighter patients have to be admitted to other hospitals prepared and suitable for the treatment of Covid patients. That is why we urge patients to be vigilant.

We truly understand that it is not convenient to be transported to another location after reaching the treatment site. We understand the patients’ desire to be treated at the university hospital, but here help is given to those who need the most difficult help, ”he said.

The minister stressed that most COVID-19 patients can be treated in simpler non-university treatment facilities.

“Therefore, we would like to understand, trust the doctors,” he said.

As Mr. Veryga added, there are criteria for institutions as to how many beds there should be for patient treatment, oxygen supply systems, etc.

Soothing: research tools are acquired

After Povilas Poderskis, the head of the Vilnius City Municipal Administration, said on Wednesday that the National Health Laboratory (NVSLP) had used the means for the investigation of COVID-19, the institution itself did not deny that the situation it was really complicated. However, it is not because of the research media, but because of the test tubes, that there was simply no public procurement.

As Dan Bakša, Director of NVSPL explained, the tube procurement has stalled, but the coronavirus testing process should not be interrupted as a result, at least for now.

“Because of the tubes, the situation is under control and I would not say at any critical moment that we have this moment,” he told reporters Thursday.

It is reported that 220.5 thousand. tubes, will be delivered in three weeks. The first part is due on Friday. The tubes are purchased through unannounced negotiations, with more than 10 potential suppliers interviewed.

Proposed not to attack hysteria

Veryga, for her part, emphasized that even hateful information shouldn’t cause hysteria.

“We have heard many times that the public wants to know, even if there are certain difficulties or risks. We name them without hiding anything, if there is one. And more than one may arise in the future, because Lithuania does not produce the absolute majority of tools, it has to buy them.

Therefore, we are not insured against challenges and difficulties, but solutions are sought when they arise. But the fact that it is said that there are threats should not be a pretext for hysteria and cause panic in society, to name yourself, to generate doubts in state institutions, ”said the Minister.

Impossible Cases Investigated: A Warning to the Public

When asked about the situation where the NVSC does not investigate the cases and if the situation is manageable, the minister assured that this work requires a lot of manpower.

“The situation must be managed epidemiologically, but, unfortunately, it takes time to clarify and investigate cases. It takes a long time, because the person himself needs to remember where he was, with whom he interacted,” he said.

A. Veryga emphasized that we try to investigate as many cases as possible, with the help of volunteers and the military.

“However, knowing that those resources are limited, quarantine measures are being taken. Sooner or later, that number of cases will decrease and the NVSC will be able to investigate a higher percentage of cases. And the fact that the cases can no longer be investigated it is a further warning to the public that the situation is serious and quarantine requirements must be met, ”said the Minister.

The minister also recalled that there has been a response to complaints from parents and there are changes regarding the use of the mask for children in kindergarten and primary school. Masks are not necessary for them, but the minister suggested that this measure be followed so that it does not cause much discomfort.

“Better to do a little more than less,” he said.
